In an embodiment, a system for measuring material flow in a pipe is disclosed. A first transducer is operable to transmit a first signal having a first frequency at a first time and receive a second signal at a second time, and a second transducer spaced apart from the first transducer and is operable to receive the first signal and transmit the second signal having the first frequency. A signal processing circuit communicatively coupled to the first transducer and the second transducer, the signal processing circuit is operable to determine a first envelope of the first signal and a second envelope of the second signal and calculate a flow rate based on the first envelope of the first signal and the second envelope of the second signal.

Envelope based sample correction for digital flow metrology

A circuit for determining device under test (DUT) model parameters is described. The circuit includes a parameter estimator circuit configured to: obtain initial values for DUT model parameters based on sense signal samples; execute a parameter convergence model having a regularization parameter and a cost function that accounts for error residuals; and obtain final values for the DUT model parameters by adjusting the regularization parameter in iterations of the parameter convergence model as a function of cost function improvement until the parameter convergence model converges to within a target tolerance.

A temperature estimation apparatus includes a measurement circuit and a temperature estimation circuit. The measurement circuit is configured to acquire a voltage measurement and a current measurement. The voltage measurement and the current measurement include a frequency component. The temperature estimation circuit is coupled to the measurement circuit. The temperature estimation circuit is configured to estimate an impedance based on the voltage measurement and the current measurement, and estimate a temperature based on a feature vector including at least two features of the impedance.

An optical distance measuring system includes a first transmitter, a first solid state device, and a receiver. The first transmitter is configured to generate a first optical waveform. A regenerative braking controller for an AC motor. To determine an electromagnetic torque for slowing or stopping the motor, the regenerative braking controller accesses a lookup table to retrieve a braking torque value corresponding to a current estimate of rotor velocity. The retrieved braking torque may correspond to a maximum or minimum torque level at which regenerative braking will occur at the current rotor velocity, or to a torque level at which charging current during regenerative braking will be maximized. If an external mechanical brake is present, the regenerative braking controller can forward an external braking torque signal to a controller so that the mechanical brake can apply the remainder of the braking force beyond that indicated by the regenerative braking torque. A method for establishing the braking torques to be stored in the lookup table is also disclosed.

Optimized regenerative braking control of electric motors using look-up tables

A signal generator has a generator output. The signal generator is configured to generate first and second signals at the generator output. The first signal has a first frequency, and the second signal has a second frequency. Switching circuitry has a circuitry input and a circuitry output. The circuitry input is coupled to the generator output. The circuitry output is adapted to be coupled to an ultrasonic transducer mechanically coupled with a surface. The switching circuitry is configured to: provide the first signal to the ultrasonic transducer at the first frequency to reduce a fluid droplet on the surface from a first size to a second size; and provide the second signal to the ultrasonic transducer at the second frequency to reduce the fluid droplet from the second size to a third size.

A motor control system and method for controlling a brushed direct current (BDC) motor using a feedback loop based on a corrected ripple count. Motor control circuitry, for example implemented in digital logic such as a microcontroller, receives a coil current signal and a motor voltage signal. Discontinuities in the coil current signal, such as caused by commutation of the BDC motor, are counted to generate a ripple count. An observer function derives an angular frequency model estimate for the values of the coil current and motor voltage signals using a computational model for the motor. A corrected ripple count is generated based on a comparison of a commutation angle of the motor with an angular position based on the angular frequency model estimate over a time interval between discontinuity pulses. A motor drive signal is adjusted based on the corrected ripple count.

Observer-based ripple detection for speed and position measurement for brushed direct current motors

Disclosed examples include heart rate monitor systems and methods to estimate a patient heart rate or rate of another pulsed signal, in which rate hypotheses or states, are identified for a current time window according to digital sample values of the pulsed signal for a current sample time window, and a rate change value is computed for potential rate transitions between states of the current and previous time windows. Transition pair branch metric values are computed as a function of the rate change value and a frequency domain amplitude of the corresponding rate hypothesis for the current time window, and the pulsed signal rate estimate is determined according to a maximum path metric computed according to the branch metric value and a corresponding path metric value for the previous time window.

For surface wetting control, an apparatus can expel fluid from a droplet on a surface using a transducer mechanically coupled to the surface. A first area of the surface can have a first wettability for the fluid, and a second area of the surface can have a second wettability for the fluid. The first area and the second area can have a patterned arrangement.

A method includes determining a droop component of a measured parameter of a device under test (DUT). The measured parameter is responsive to an excitation signal having a frequency component, and the droop component is determined responsive to a first value of the parameter at a first time and a second value of the parameter at a second time. The parameter at the first time has a first phase value, and the parameter at the second time has a second phase value. The first phase value is equal to the second phase value. The method also includes correcting a frequency domain representation of the parameter by applying the droop component at a frequency of the representation of the parameter corresponding to the frequency component of the excitation signal.
