A system and method are provided to implement a double belt roll fuser geometry to enable consistent self-stripping of image receiving media exiting a fuser assembly in an image forming device. Interaction between an image receiving medium substrate and a fuser belt of a belt roll fuser device is modified to include configuration in which an opposing belt is positioned around a pressure roller to oppose the fuser belt provided around the fuser roller. The fuser belt and the opposing belt extend in a downstream direction from the fusing nip and are configured to provide an appropriate length downstream of the fusing nip that sandwiches the image receiving medium substrate between the fuser belt and the opposing belt. Each of the fuser belt and the opposing belt wrap 70 degrees or more around significantly smaller diameter rollers positioned downstream of the fusing nip to form a stripping nip.

Systems and methods for implementing a double belt roll fuser geometry in an image forming device

A pressure roller for a media processing device has enhanced temperature uniformity and resists temperature increases when subjected to elevated temperatures, enabling greater dimensional stability of the pressure roller in fluctuating temperatures. The pressure roller includes a hollow cylindrical member, an elastomeric layer, and an endbell on each end of the hollow cylindrical member. A chamber is defined by an inner wall of the hollow cylindrical member and the endbells in which a volume of fluid is contained to absorb heat from the hollow cylindrical member.

An approach is provided for balancing a pressure profile of a spreader nip formed by a first roller and a second roller within a print system. A line parallel to a target process direction is determined. One of an inboard side and an outboard side of the spreader nip is loaded with a first variable force. The other one of the inboard side and the outboard side of the spreader nip is loaded with a second variable force. The inboard side and the outboard side of the spreader nip are then separately loaded by a first balancing force and a second balancing force to cause a substrate passing through the spreader nip to track in a direction such that a side edge of the substrate remains parallel to the line parallel to the target process direction.

Method and apparatus for spreader nip balancing in a print system

In a xerographic printer, a transfer station is controlled to apply a constant current to the photoreceptor. A print sheet having a high moisture content will cause the control system to make a high voltage drain to maintain the constant current. A signal related to the voltage drain is used to control a decurler. The system enables the decurler to be controlled on a sheet-by-sheet basis.

An electrophotographic printing or copying machine includes a functional module which can be readily removed and replaced by service personnel. The module includes a monitor in the form of an electronically-readable memory, which includes information about how the particular module is to be operated. A distribution board electronically accesses the memories within the monitors and reads therefrom information, such as how much voltage to supply to different components within each module. The distribution board can also update the number of prints made with each module, and maintain this count within the monitors.
