In one embodiment, a kit for making a touch-sensitive personalized display includes a first medium that is foldable according to score lines to form a cavity. The first medium includes an adhesion surface to receive a personalized second medium, and a back surface opposite the adhesion surface. The second medium includes a personalization surface to receive a user selected-image, and includes a rear surface opposite the personalization surface to adhere to the first medium's adhesion surface. The kit includes a conductive touch sensing system to detect a user touch at the personalization surface and to trigger an action at an electronic device responsive to detection of the touch.

Display with touch sensing system

In one embodiment, a kit for making a personalized display includes a blank foldable to form a cavity according to score lines to form a display with a cavity, a print medium to receive a user selected-image and to adhere to the blank, and a bending wave generation unit attachable to a display element to receive a signal from a signal generator and produce bending waves within the display element that cause the display element to vibrate and generate audible acoustic waves in accordance with the signal. In another embodiment, a personalized display includes a blank with extensions folded to form a cavity, a print medium adhered to the blank and with a user-selected image printed via a digital printer, and a bending wave generation unit attached to a display element and positioned within the cavity.

Personalized display

In one embodiment, a kit for making a display includes a first medium, a support element, and first and second wave generators. The first medium is foldable according to scoring to form a display with a cavity. The element is attachable or attached to a back surface of the folded first medium, to be positioned at least partially within the cavity. The first wave generator is attachable or attached to the back surface, to receive signals from a signal generator and produce mechanical waves that cause the first medium to vibrate and generate audible acoustic waves within a first frequency range. The second wave generator is attachable or attached to the element, to receive signals from the signal generator and produce mechanical waves that cause the element to vibrate and generate audible acoustic waves within a second frequency range, different from the first frequency range.

Display with wave generators

The present invention is drawn to a composition for cast-coating on ink-jet media. The composition includes a liquid vehicle, silica particulates, and an internal release agent. The composition is substantially free of polymeric binder and can improve the glossiness of a porous particulate-coated ink-receiving media by at least 2 gloss units at 20 degrees. The silica particulates can be suspended in the liquid vehicle at about 1-35 wt %, and can have a particle size of less than about 150 nm. The internal release agent can be present at about 0.5-10 wt %.

Gloss-enhancing coating for ink-jet media

An ink receiving substrate includes a base substrate, and an ink receptive coating formed on the base substrate. The ink receptive coating includes a binder and a fumed silica and alumina dispersion, wherein the fumed silica and alumina dispersion includes between 5 and 30% alumina particles.

Inkjet recording media

An exemplary method for forming a high gloss base includes providing a paper base stock, coating the base stock with a vacuolated particulate plastic pigment, and calendering the coated base stock with a calendering apparatus applying over 1000 pounds per lineal inch (pli) and substantially no thermal energy.

Faux photobase

The present invention is drawn to compositions and coated substrates wherein a back coating layer can be implemented for use to mitigate ink transfer, surface damage, smudging, and sticking between stacked sheets in output trays of ink-jet ink printers. Specifically, a coated media sheet can comprise a printing surface including an ink-receiving coating formulated to accept an ink-jet ink composition, and an opposing back surface comprising a back coating. The back coating can include an admixture of 0.5 wt % to 75 wt % of a polymeric binder, 5 wt % to 95 wt % of filler particulates having an average particle size from about 0.01 &#x3bc;m to about 15 &#x3bc;m, and 3 wt % to 90 wt % of spacer particulates having an average particle size from about 6 &#x3bc;m to about 500 &#x3bc;m. In one embodiment, the spacer particulates are larger than the filler particulates.
