A wireless phone user registered for push-to-talk (PTT) services desires a push-to-talk session with a party on a network computer accessible via a public data network (like the Internet) that is not registered with any PTT service. The registered user enters a unique identifier, as a destination address for such computer, and a PTT server uses the unique identifier to query a Directory Service available on the public data network to obtain a PTT address for the destination computer. The PTT server then forwards or proxies the PTT request to the destination computer. As a result, the number of push-to-talk destinations available to the wireless phone user is expanded to include any number of push-to-talk enabled computers available on the Internet that are known to the Directory Service.

Method and apparatus for accessing a network computer to establish a push-to-talk session

A directory service, containing unique identifiers (e.g., telephone numbers) and related Internet address(es), accessible through the Internet. An Internet-enabled communication system, such as IP-PBX or voice mail system, accepts a telephone number as a destination address. It then contacts the directory service and requests the Internet address related to that telephone number. The communication system uses the Internet address to set up a delivery path via the Internet to the destination. Thus, all time-dependent charges normally associated with message delivery by the telephone network can be avoided.

A system and method for accessing and displaying weather information are shown. A weather station ( ) collects weather information data from sensors ( ) using a collection program and assembles the data as a data string in a memory. A station access system ( ) is used to call the weather station through the Internet ( ) and a wireless cellular digital packet data system ( ). The weather station downloads the weather data string to a data base ( ). A user contacts the access computer through the Internet using his personal computer ( ) to ask for the weather information. The information is compiled from the data base and transmitted to the user's display ( ) over the Internet. A user such as a farmer can also supply the system with his particular field and crop conditions and the system will apply the conditions to the weather information and return customized crop production and control information to the farmer over the Internet.

A device for evacuating liquid from a collapsible hose. An elongated frame includes a pair of spaced apart wheels rotatably secured about an axis situated at an end of the frame. A first cylindrical member is mounted about the axis between the pair of spaced apart wheels. A second cylindrical member is pivotally and rotatably secured to the frame and arranged in opposing and rotatable contact with the first cylindrical member. The second cylindrical member is actuable in directions towards and away from the first member and such that, upon the hose being inserted between the first and second cylindrical members in a first displaced position, the cylindrical members are subsequently moved into contact with one another and the device translating upon a ground support surface so that the hose is drained and compressed into a collapsed condition.

Method and system for providing weather information over the internet using data supplied through the internet and a wireless cellular data system

A voice mail system in which a recipient of a call is provided with the ability to reply to an internal or external voice message in a common manner. A method for providing a reply includes identifying a caller, and retrieving an address of the caller from a database. Caller origination information is automatically provided with a recorded message from the caller to enable a recipient of the recorded message to reply. Identifying the caller may include searching a database using a voice signature of the caller to identify caller information.
