A transfer device () comprises a housing () defining a chamber (), carriers (), and an adjustable spacing mechanism (). The carriers () can be positioned in the chamber () and have receiving openings (). The spacing mechanism () is configured to move carriers () relative to one another along a chamber () to a desired spatial arrangement. Items, such as microscope slides (), can be transferred between slide holder devices by using the transfer device (). The pitch of the carriers () can be adjusted to receive and dispense slides ().

A portable computer is configured to accept removable modular display panels of different types that plug into a structure hinged to the body of the computer. Each display panel has a sliding engagement means fixed along a lower edge, and the hinged structure has a mating sliding engagement means along an upper edge and parallel to the axis of the hinge, allowing a display panel to engage and disengage in the direction of the axis of the hinge. In an embodiment of the invention, display modules adaptable to the computer have a code stored in a memory device that is accessible on start-up by the computer, to identify and load a display driver routine capable of driving the display module assembled to the computer.

The invention relates to a display head-set device that includes a support member and a display-optics interface pod coupled to one of a left handle portion and a right handle portion of the support member. The display-optics interface pod houses an image display for viewing by a user. In one embodiment, the display head-set resembles a pair of eye glasses with the interface pod attached to one of the left handle portion and the right handle portion of the support member by an arm clip and extending into the field of vision to offer a monocular viewing sight to the user.

A storage assembly for an electronic device, such as a telephone handset. The storage assembly is comprised of a tube housing, carrier tray and tray locking mechanism. The tube housing receives a telephone handset forcing the carrier tray to the full aft and locked position. At this point, the telephone handset is completely stored inside the tube housing. A push-button release mechanism provides the ability for the user to eject the telephone handset from the tube when needed. The entire tube housing is designed to fit in the armrest of a seat on an airplane, train, car or any other desired seat. This allows storage of the telephone handset while maximizing the available space immediately around the seat used for other purposes.

A pen computer includes a recession in the top surface adapted to releaseably retain a pen device. The pen is visible from the top, yet securely retained for storage and transport. The recession is proximate and parallel to one edge of the computer and includes an access notch exteding rom the edge of the computer to the recession which is sized so that a user can grasp and remove the pen device from the recession by placing a finger in the access notch. Retention is by provided by two resilient retention devices near either end of the recession.
