A closure device includes a first magnet and a housing with a second magnet positioned therein. The first magnet is configured to be position in a first object and the housing is configured to be positioned in a second object. The housing has a top end and at least one adjustment mechanism connected to the housing that moves the second magnet in at least one translational direction or at least one rotational direction relative to the top end of the housing. The movement of the second magnet relative to the top end of the housing adjusts the position or orientation of the second magnet relative to the first magnet to alter a magnetic force between the first magnet and the second magnet when the first magnet is positioned proximate the top end of the housing.

Techniques for a circuit board for an input device are described. In at least some embodiments, an input device is integrated into a circuit board of an apparatus. For instance, a touch interaction region of the input device is formed by cutting and/or etching a portion of the circuit board such that the touch interaction region is moveable with respect to adjacent portions of the circuit board. According to one or more embodiments, an input device includes a switch such that movement of the touch interaction region actuates the switch to generate a click input event.

Circuit board for an input device

Optimized charging of a battery of a computing device is provided. The computing device includes a dynamic phase change device. The dynamic phase change device includes a wick structure with a valve. The valve is operable to regulate a working fluid of the dynamic phase change device based on a position of the valve. The computing device also includes a battery physically connected to and in thermal communication with the dynamic phase change device, and a sensor operable to determine a temperature of the battery. The computing device includes a first heat generating component physically and thermally connected to the dynamic phase change device. The first heat generating component or a second heat generating component is configured to compare the determined temperature to a predetermined temperature and control the valve based on the comparison.

Dynamic thermal management for optimal battery charging

The description relates to devices, such as computing devices that have hinged portions. One example can include a first portion that includes a first display and a second portion that includes a second display. This example can also include a determinative hinge assembly that rotatably secures the first and second portions around first and second hinge axes. The determinative hinge assembly can have a first unflexed configuration when the first and second portions are parallel or perpendicular to one another and a second flexed configuration when the first and second portions contact one another when oriented at an oblique angle.

The description relates to devices, such as computing devices that have hinged portions. One example can include a first portion and a second portion. The first portion can define a first hinge axis and can be resiliently biased toward the first hinge axis. The second portion can define a second hinge axis and can be resiliently biased toward the second hinge axis. A first cam can operate relative to the first hinge axis and is slidably secured to the first portion. A second cam can operate relative to the second hinge axis and can be slidably secured to the first portion. When the first and second portions are oriented at an acute angle the second cam can force the second portion away from the second hinge axis while the first cam can allow the first portion to remain biased toward the first hinge axis.

Input device haptics and pressure sensing techniques are described. An input device includes an outer surface, a pressure sensor and haptic feedback mechanism, and a pressure sensing and haptic feedback module. The outer surface is configured to receive an application of pressure by an object. The pressure sensor and haptic feedback mechanism has one or more piezos configured to detect and quantify an amount of the application of the pressure to the outer surface by the object, the one or more piezos configured to output a signal indicating the quantified amount of the pressure. The pressure sensing and haptic feedback module is configured to receive the signal from the one or more piezos indicating the quantified amount of the pressure and control the haptic feedback of the pressure sensor and haptic feedback mechanism.

The description relates to hinged devices, such as hinged computing devices. One example can include a first portion and a second portion. The example can also include a pair of self-spacing hinge assemblies rotatably securing hinge ends of the first and second portions and camming the first and second hinge ends apart from one another at non-parallel orientations of the first and second portions sufficient to prevent contact of the first and second hinge ends at the non-parallel orientations while allowing the first and second hinge ends to contact one another at other orientations.

A mechanical attach and retention feature is described. An apparatus may include a cover portion that is configured to cover at least a portion of a display device of a computing device having a mobile form factor that is configured to be held by one or more hands of a user. The apparatus includes, a first mid-spine that is rotationally connected to the cover portion, a second mid-spine that is rotationally connected to the first mid-spine, and a connection portion that is rotationally connection to the second mid-spine. The connection portion is configured to form a removable physical coupling to the computing device using a projection that is configured to be disposed within a channel formed in a housing of the computing device and a protrusion disposed on the projection, the protrusion configured to be received within a cavity formed as part of the channel.

Techniques for a touch input in a circuit board are described. In at least some embodiments, a touch input device is integrated into a circuit board of an apparatus. For instance, a touch interaction region of the touch input device is formed by cutting and/or etching a portion of the circuit board such that the touch interaction region is moveable with respect to adjacent portions of the circuit board. According to one or more embodiments, a touch input device includes a switch such that movement of the touch interaction region actuates the switch to generate a click input event.

Flexible hinge spine techniques are described. In one or more implementations, a flexible hinge is configured to communicatively and physically couple an input device to a computing device and may implement functionality such as a support layer and minimum bend radius. The input device may also include functionality to promote a secure physical connection between the input device and the computing device. One example of this includes use of one or more protrusions that are configured to be removed from respective cavities of the computing device along a particular axis but mechanically bind along other axes. Other techniques include use of a laminate structure to form a connection portion of the input device.

A cover for a mobile computing device includes two or more hinges so constructed that the hinges are substantially rigid when in-plane and flexible when out-of-plane. The cover includes segments made of a rigid material disposed between the hinges. The cover, when swiveled to the back side of the computing device, forms a contour around an object such as a stylus to secure the object to the back side of the computing device when the object is present. The cover becomes substantially flat and parallel to the back side of the computing device when the object is absent.

Examples include discreet wiring coupling a physical keyboard to a mobile device. The keyboard includes a user interface component including a first housing body aligned substantially along a first axis, a device interface component including a second housing body aligned substantially along a second axis, and one or more conductors coupling the user interface component to the device interface component. A hinge assembly includes a first hinge body coupled to the first housing body such that the hinge assembly is movably coupled to the user interface component and a second hinge body coupled to the second housing body such that the hinge assembly is movably coupled to the device interface component. The conductors include a first segment extending substantially along the first axis and a second segment extending substantially along the second axis. Aspects enable a user to use a physical keyboard to provide input to the mobile device.
