A method includes deploying a logging tool in a borehole formed in a subsurface formation, the logging tool having a transmitter and a receiver, wherein a condition that is present during logging comprises at least one of a shape of the borehole is non-circular and the logging tool is off-center within the borehole. The method includes emitting, by the transmitter, a signal into subsurface formation and detecting, by the receiver, a response to the signal being propagated through the subsurface formation. The method includes creating, from the response, a borehole image that includes features in the subsurface formation and correcting the features, wherein correcting the features comprises mapping points of a non-circular shape in the borehole image into a plane substantially perpendicular to an axis of the borehole.

Dip correction for non-circular borehole and off-center logging

A method for imaging a downhole formation. The method includes combining the captured images to generate a partial image of the formation, wherein the partial image includes captured images separated by gaps representing portions of the formation not captured with sensors what were disposed downhole. The method includes locating dips in the formation within the partial image and interpolating the partial image using the located dips within the partial image.

A method for identifying a shape of a borehole may comprise disposing a downhole tool into the borehole, wherein the downhole tool comprises at least one transducer, transmitting a pressure pulse from the at least one transducer, wherein the pressure pulse is reflected as an echo, recording the echo with the at least one transducer, producing data points based at least in part on the echo, each data point including a radial distance value and an azimuthal value corresponding to the radial distance value, performing a pre-selection, fitting a geometric shape to a plurality of data points within the borehole, and sorting out at least one of the plurality of data points based at least in part on the shape. A system for identifying shape of a borehole may comprise at least one transducer and an information handling system.

Iterative borehole shape estimation of cast tool

A method includes deploying a logging tool in a borehole formed in a subsurface formation. The logging tool has a transmitter and a receiver. The method includes emitting, by the transmitter, a signal into subsurface formation. The method includes detecting, by the receiver, a response to the signal being propagated through the subsurface formation. The method includes creating, from the response, a borehole image that includes distorted features representing bedding dips in the subsurface formation. The method includes correcting the distorted features, wherein correcting the distorted features comprises mapping points of a non-circular shape in the borehole image to points on a circular shape.

Additional activity may include generating a rugosity correction, responsive to detecting rugosity in the borehole, by finding an effective borehole diameter, consistent with the presence of rugosity, for which a simulation of a model of the borehole using the effective borehole diameter generates simulation resistivity measurements that match, within a tolerance, resistivity measurements before execution of a borehole correction algorithm. Additional activity may include applying rugosity correction by generating resistivity logs, using the effective borehole diameter, that are corrected for rugosity and borehole effect. Correction of galvanic tool data to account for rugosity and cave effect

An integrated acoustic and induction logging tool enables efficient logging operations and reduces logging string length. In some of the disclosed embodiments, an integrated acoustic and induction logging tool includes a mandrel compatible with acoustic logging operations and induction logging operations. The integrated acoustic and induction logging tool also includes an acoustic logging transducer set and an induction logging coil set, where a plurality of transducers of the acoustic logging transducer set are interspersed among a plurality of coils of the induction logging coil set along the mandrel. A related assembly method includes obtaining a mandrel compatible with acoustic logging and induction logging. The method also includes assembling an acoustic logging transducer set and an induction logging coil set along the mandrel, where a plurality of transducers of the acoustic logging transducer set are interspersed among a plurality of coils of the induction logging coil set along the mandrel.

Methods and systems for an integrated acoustic and induction logging tool

A lighter clip for use with a cigarette pack is inexpensively manufactured from a material such as injection-molded plastic. A generally three-sided clip is sized and shaped to fit across the width and depth of the pack, and contains an arcuate portion, suitable for holding a lighter, on one end. The clip is manufactured from a resilient material, and shaped in a manner that causes it to be lightly biased against the pack, thereby holding the clip in position. The two longer clip arms are sized to have a large enough surface area to be suitable for promotional use, and the clip arms and ends are shaped to securely grip the cigarette pack.

Cigarette lighter clip

A method for enhancing the vertical resolution of a nuclear well logging tool is set forth. A detector of nuclear radiation is moved along a well borehole to produce measurement data r(z) as a function of depth in the borehole. The data r(z) and a system response function g(z) are transformed into spatial frequency domain (f) counterparts of r(z) and g(z), the counterparts being R(f) and G(f). A window W(f) in the spatial frequency domain based on the function R(f) is defined. That smoothly eliminates the high frequency noise. A new profile function P(f) is obtained by dividing the filtered R(f) by the function G(f) to deconvolve R(f). The inverse Fourier transform of P(f) yields a vertically enhanced profile p(z) in the depth domain.

Method for enhancing vertical resolution of nuclear well logging

In a resistivity log, a curve is obtained showing the values of resistivity where adjacent beds impact the measured resistivity. The curve as a function of well depth is first converted into a rectangularized curve so that the interfaces of the adjacent strata are located, and by a suitable number of iterations, a correction factor is applied. The corrected rectangular log is obtained with a correction coefficient computed at each depth. For each computation, the impact of all the strata within a specified depth window is considered, while strata beyond that window are simplified by representing the strata beyond the window with single equivalent bed values to reduce the number of computations required. This then provides a resistivity log which is substantially free of shoulder bed effect.

Shoulder effect logging method

A method of data conversion is set forth. In this system, the amplitude of a borehole sidewall response is recorded as a data record. This includes a sinusoidal representation of an interface. Several points on the sinusoidal curve are transformed in parameter space to represent dip and strike of the interface. Multiple point transform provides quality data so that noise on the signal has reduced impact. The transform is the Hough Transform into parameter space. This can be used with BHTV to provide acoustic data representing the sidewall of the well.
