The invention relates to a coating composition for use as a coating to prevent fouling in a marine environment, comprising: a) a curable polysiloxane polyoxyalkylene block copolymer; b) a catalyst of general formula (i) wherein each Ris independently a monovalent hydrocarbon group, each Ris independently selected from a hydrogen atom, a monovalent organic group, a siloxane group, or a silyl group of formula &#x2014;SiR, wherein each Ris independently a monovalent hydrocarbon group, and n is an integer having a value of 0 or greater, and optionally: c) a filler and/or pigment. 

An anti-fouling composition which comprises a cured or cross-linked polymer free of perfluoropolyether moieties and a fluid fluorinated alkyl- or alkoxy-containing polymer or oligomer. Preferably, the fluorinated alkyl- or alkoxy-containing polymer or oligomer comprises a repeating unit of the general formula:&#x2014;{[CFR&#x2014;(CFR)&#x2014;(O)]&#x2014;[CFR&#x2014;O]}&#x2014;wherein n is 0 or 1, m is an integer from 0 to 4, R independently is H, F, Cl, Br, or CF, and the ratio q/p is 0-10, and the fluorine-free polymer is an organosiloxane-containing polymer comprising a repeating unit of the general structure &#x2014;[SiRR&#x2014;O]&#x2014;, wherein Rand Rare independently hydrogen, alkyl, aryl, aralkyl, or a vinyl group.

Anti-fouling compositions with a fluorinated alkyl- or alkoxy- containing polymer or oligomer

An anti-fouling coating composition comprising (i) a curable polymer and (ii) an organosilicone polymer. This anti-fouling coating composition has a low surface energy, has suitable elastomeric properties, decreases the settlement of fouling organisms and their adhesion strength, and can be used as a clear coat without a misty or milky appearance.

Anti-fouling coating compositions containing a carboxyl-functional organosilicone

A process for inhibiting the fouling of a substrate in a marine fouling environment, which comprises forming on the substrate, before exposure to the said environment, a coating comprising a curable fluorinated resin of the general formula: W-L-YFC&#x2014;O&#x2014;R&#x2014;CFY-L-W wherein: W is a group of the general formula &#x2014;Si(R)(OR), wherein &#x3b1;=0, 1, or 2, preferably &#x3b1;=0, Rand Rindependently have the meaning of linear of branched C-Calkyl groups, optionally containing one or more ether groups, or C-Caryl or alkyl groups, and preferably Rand Rare C1-C4 alkyl groups; L is an organic linking group; Y is F or CF; and Ris a group having an average molecular weight by number between 350 and 8000, preferably between 500 and 3000, and comprising repeating units having at least one of the following structures randomly distributed along the chain: &#x2014;CFXO&#x2014;, CFCFO&#x2014;, CFCFCFO&#x2014;, CFCFCFCFO&#x2014;, CRRCFCFO&#x2014;, &#x2014;(CF(CF)CFO)&#x2014;, &#x2014;CFCF(CF)O&#x2014;, wherein X is F or CF, Rand Rindependently have the meaning of H, Cl, or C1-C4 perfluoroalkyl.

Antifouling coating composition comprising a fluorinated resin

A process for inhibiting the fouling of a substrate in a fouling environment, which comprises forming on the substrate, before exposure to the environment, a coating comprising a film-forming polymer (A) carrying unreacted curable silicon-containing functional groups providing latent reactivity, and thereafter applying a layer comprising a curable polymeric fouling-inhibiting material (B), more especially a curable polysiloxane or a curable flourine-containing polymer, and bonding the applied layer to the coating by a condensation curing reaction involving the unreacted functional groups thereon. The initial coating can be applied over a range of worn or damaged anti-fouling coatings. The sequential application of layers is a simpler, more flexible and more controllable procedure than is offered by complex systems designed to produce outer siloxane-rich regions. Relatively long periods are achievable.
