A system for arranging a number of images into a compilation of images a metadata derivation unit () configured to derive metadata from the images based on the content of the images, and an image arranging unit () configured to arrange the images into a compilation of images based on the metadata derived from the images. A method for arranging a number of images into a compilation of images is also provided.

Compilation of images

Inductive Coupling in Document 5 A document comprises a substrate. The substrate comprises a coupling circuit having conductive tracks printed on the substrate. The coupling circuit comprises a first coupling part () for coupling to a memory tag () and of a size to receive a memory tag within the first coupling part, a second coupling () part for coupling to a reader, the first coupling part being smaller than the second coupling part, and a connecting part () to connect the first coupling part and the second coupling part.

Inductive coupling in documents

A digital pen and paper system comprising a digital pen adapted to acquire disposition data representing a position and orientation of the pen relative to a portion of a carrier using a position-determining pattern on the carrier, the pen comprising a display operable to present to a user of the system display data representing at least one character for transcription by the user, the or each character transformed to appear to the user as if it is printed on the carrier, and a method for effecting transcription of information using such a system.

Digital pen and paper system

The reading of data from a memory tag to another device, using a memory tag reader, is described. The other device has an active portion which can detect the presence and position of the memory tag reader when brought adjacent to it. The memory tag reader is brought adjacent to the memory tag and data uploaded into the memory tag reader. The memory tag reader is moved adjacent to the active portion of the other device into a position which identifies the location to which the data is to be transferred. The data is then downloaded into that location in the other device. A similar process is described for downloading data from the other device to the memory tag. Apparatus appropriate to carry out each stage of these processes is described.

Reading from and writing to memory tags

A method of processing image data representing a plurality of images, the method includes processing the image data for respective ones of the images in order to generate allocation data for each image, and on the basis of the allocation data, allocating an image a position in a template, the template includes a plurality of image windows, each window representing a template position; and on the basis of user input, generating selection data representing a user selected allocated image, and for an unselected allocated image, replacing that image with another image from the plurality of images.

Method and apparatus for processing image data

A print has a substrate and a plurality of memory tags coupled to the substrate. The print is an index print including a plurality of images and a memory tag is associated with each image for storage of data relating to that image. A print medium suitable for forming such a print has a substrate with a printable surface and a plurality of memory tags coupled thereto at locations spaced apart over the area of the substrate. Alternatively, memory tags may be applied to a printed print medium. Methods of providing printed images with associated stored data are described.

A wearable computing apparatus includes a processor; a device for presenting information from the processor to a user, and a device for providing user input to the processor in response to the information presented to the user. The device is adapted to be activated wholly or partly by a foot of the user.

Foot activated user interface

A digital camera derives an infrared and visible signals from IR and visible sensors. The sensor fields of view overlap or share a common field of view. An analyzer of the IR signal provides the location of and information from an active or passive IR target. The analyzer responds to the location and information signals for visible image composition control (pan/tilt/zoom/timing) and selection of visible image pictures for storage to provide ancillary information, such as personal details of a target wearer. The visible and infrared image signals are combined to correct for sensitivity of the visible and/or IR sensors to IR and visible wavelengths, respectively.

A memory tag is powered by and addressable via a radio frequency wireless link to read data from a memory. The memory tag is addressable by a reader. The memory holds data and interface configuration information relating to the operation of an interface device. This interface configuration information including at least one status item and an item type associated with the, or each, status item.

Apparatus for providing composite electronic image of a scene including at least one link to other information comprises a camera for providing an image signal, a link generator responsive to the scene or the immediate environment for generating a link signal, and a combiner which combines the image and link signals to provide the electronic image. As shown, the viewed scene includes a zoo information display with a barcode which is read by the camera to provide the final part of the link information for concatenation onto a first part which is loaded into the camera at entry to the zoo (or preloaded if the camera belongs to the zoo). Clicking on the display on the viewed image provides a link to a zoo web page associated with the enclosure.

A method of automatically selecting regions of interest within an image in response to a selection signal, and panning across an image so as to keep the selected region in view is disclosed, together with an image processing system employing the method.

Intelligent feature selection and pan zoom control

A digital camera has first and second light sources for sequentially illuminating a document from two different directions in response to the camera being activated. The camera has first and second sensor portions. Only the first and second sensor portions respectively respond to images reflected from the document in response to the first and second sources illuminating the document. Images detected by the first and second sensor portions are combined to remove specular reflection from the document image. In a second embodiment, the camera has three sensor portions.

Image detector method and apparatus including plural detector regions and image illuminators

A computing apparatus comprises a processor unitand a foot control unitin addition to a device for presenting information to a user such as a microdisplay. Movement of the foot, which drives operation of a selection element, provides user input to the processor unit. The foot control unit contains a position sensorthat detects position relative to a reference unitin the processor unitA stream of relative position data is used to indicate alternative options at the information presentation device. Selection may be carried out by various alternative methods in different embodiments &#x2014;if the position sensoris also an orientation sensor, this may be by rotation of the foot. This arrangement is particularly suitable for a wearable computing apparatus.

An electronic image capture apparatus is disclosed comprising: an electronic camera having a detector, a lens having a field of view which is adapted to limit the radiation incident upon the detector to that within the field of view, an actuator for moving the field of view across the document, a control means for controlling the actuator to move the camera across the document so as to obtain a set of overlapping sub-images corresponding to different areas of the document, and electronic processing means adapted to receive the set of sub-images produced by the camera and to process the sub-images to form a composite image of the portion of the document covered by the set of sub-images. A set of processable sub-image files are produced which each comprise a data set of characters corresponding to characters appearing in a respective sub-image in the set and the relative location of the characters in that sub-image. The contents of each of the processable sub-image files are stitched into a blank text document by applying logical operators to the data in the files to produce a complete composite text document containing data indicative of the textual content of the scanned document.

Image capture systems

The present invention provides a computer system () for determining regions of interest in a static digital image for display on a display device, the system comprising a processor () configured to compare parts of an image () with characteristics at least one region of interest specified by a user () and to determine at least one region of interest in an image () based at least in part on the degree of similarity between parts of the image and the at least one user-specified region of interest in which the at least one user-specified region of interest is specified from the same image as the image in relation to which the determination is made.
