A liquid storage tank of the collapsible type that has an elongate body with a liner and cover that sandwich a twined reinforcement. The body has an intermediate tubular portion with a reinforcement arranged to allow radial growth. Two opposite end portions are interconnected by the tubular body and are reinforced with twined cords that generally radially enforce such end portions. An outlet is provided in one of the end portions.

A contour formable hose with a reformable insert disposed in the hose duct, the insert with at least two spaced ring means that engage an internal annular portion of the hose interior wall so that a ring means is located near each end portion of the hose. A rod bias means is interpositioned between and attached to the ring means and the rod bias means is capable of being yielded to a new bias shape.

The method of manufacturing an improved collapse-resistant corrugated hose of flexible elastomeric material including a tubular structure which preferably includes a single layer of textile reinforcement which may be of a knit construction. The tubular structure is formed to an outside diameter essentially that of the maximum diameter of the mold cavity then placed therein and vulcanized under heat and pressure to mold form cylindrical end portions and a corrugated central portion. A preformed wire insert is then placed in the troughs of the internal corrugations to provide resistance against collapsing when the hose is subjected to a vacuum or bending. The hose is particularly useful in automotive vehicle cooling systems.

Method for making corrugated hose

A composite reinforced vulcanized elastomeric hose is disclosed including a tube, an outer cover, an interlayer interposed between the tube and cover, and a reinforcement embedded in the hose wall. The outer cover and inner tube are composed of dissimilar polymers not readily bondable to one another, one of which is an EPDM type, and the interlayer is composed of halogenated butyl which securely bonds the dissimilar polymers together and provides a low permeability internal fluid barrier for the hose article with protection to the embedded reinforcement.

Elastomer waste may be devulcanized without depolymerization to a material capable of recompounding and revulcanization into a product having physical properties essentially equivalent to the original vulcanizate. Devulcanization is accomplished by application of a controlled dose of microwave energy to sized material, preferably in a continuous process.

The method includes filling the hollow interior of a flexible uncured tubular preform with a flowable substantially incompressible material, training the thus filled tubular element about discrete support means which contact a portion of the exterior surface of the tubular element to form the desired serpentine configuration, and then curing the filled, serpentined tubular element followed by totally discharging the incompressible material from the interior of the tubular element.
