A novel method for obtaining transaction information includes receiving a first transaction record including data indicative of one or more products purchased by a first purchaser from a first merchant, storing the data included in the first record, receiving a second transaction record including electronic data indicative of one or more products purchased by the purchaser from a second merchant, storing the data included in the second record, and providing the first purchaser access to the first transaction record and the said second transaction record. The method is performed on a handheld device which is carried by the first purchaser. A point-of-sale system is also disclosed and includes: a processing, a product interface operative to receive product data, memory operative to store a first transaction record, and a transaction record interface operative to output electronic data indicative of the first transaction record.

An approval is sent to the merchant only after the transaction approval request is both conventionally approved by the credit card company and verified by the card-holder. The card-holder, or the credit card company, may initiate verification of the transaction approval request.

System and method for securing a credit account

Self measuring roll goods includes a pliable substrate, a front surface, and a rear surface. The rear surface includes fiducial markings to facilitate the quick and easy measurement of the roll goods. The fiducial markings include an array of symbols, and at least a portion of the peripheral edges of the symbols are spaced apart from the peripheral edges of adjacent symbols. The pitch of the array defines a gross measurement scale. In a particular embodiment, the peripheral edges of the symbols intersect tangentially. In another particular embodiment, the symbols are completely spaced apart. Examples of the symbols include closed curves, polygons, and linear symbols. Optionally, marks on the perimeters of the symbols and/or the vertices of the symbols provide a fine measurement scale.

Self-measuring roll goods

A novel guide is disclosed for fixing to a cutting tool for cutting a piece of sheet material having a plurality of fiducial lines marked thereon. The guide has a set of alignment marks and a plurality of measurement scales associated with the alignment marks. Each measurement scale corresponds to at least one of the fiducial lines, such that when one of the alignment marks is aligned with a particular fiducial line, the measurement scale corresponding to the particular fiducial line indicates the distance of the blade of the cutting tool from an edge of the sheet material. Particular embodiments of the guide include a flat portion attached to the front of the cutting tool, or alternately, a laser guide rotatably fixed to the front of the cutting tool. Novel methods for cutting a predetermined distance from an edge of a piece of sheet material using the guides of the present invention is also disclosed.

Saw guide for use with lined sheet material

Construction materials such as 4-foot by 8-foot sheets of plywood, drywall, and similar materials have fiducial markings for quick visual reference of the user. Imprinted lines of equal spacings indicate to the user the location of wall studs at 16-inch or 24-inch spacings, and the sheet of material can also include oblique lines and one or more circles, for reference of the user in quickly determining the size of remnants. Similar markings may also be applied to roll-stored materials such as carpeting.

Reference marking on construction materials

In order to multiply operands of different binary lengths using a common combined array, for example to do both 8 bit by 8 bit and 16 bit by 16 bit multiplications, 2.sup.m-1 multiplications are performed, where m is equal to the number of different bit lengths it is desired to multiply. For example, where 8.times.8 bit and 16.times.16 bit multiplications are done, 2 different multiplications are done. Each multiplication is an n.times.n/2.sup.m-1 multiplication, e.g., a 16.times.8 bit multiplication. Sign correction is performed by adding a correction vector or by modifying one of the partial products. The results of the multiplications are added together to obtain a 2 n bit result. Groups of bits from said 2 n result are selected depending on the length of the operands being multiplied.

Efficient combined array for 2n bit n bit multiplications

The present invention is a novel method of interfacing static logic to domino logic. A static logic block is connected to one input of a domino evaluation tree. The domino evaluation tree operates only during a brief window of time, while an evaluation control block is ON. Since the input to the domino gate only must be stable during this brief window of time, there is no need to latch the output of the static logic.

Pulsed domino latches

The present invention is an improved interface between monotonic and non-monotonic domino logic. A monotonic domino logic block is clocked by CLK. The last stage of the monotonic domino logic is clocked by the delayed clock, DCLK, to extend its evaluation period beyond Phase I by a brief window of time, t.sub.d. The true output and the inverted output of the last stage of the monotonic domino logic block are inputs to a non-monotonic domino evaluation tree. The non-monotonic domino evaluation tree operates while an evaluation control block is ON. The evaluation control block is ON only during that extension of the evaluation period, t.sub.d, for a time less than or equal to the period t.sub.d. Since the output of the last stage of the monotonic logic block remains stable during this extended evaluation period, and the non-monotonic domino evaluation tree operates at most during this window of time, there is no need to use latches or use a dual rail implementation for the monotonic logic.

Method and apparatus to interface monotonic and non-monotonic domino

An opportunistic time-borrowing domino logic includes a domino pipeline having a plurality of logic gates coupled in series and controlled by first, second, third and fourth clock signals. The first domino gate in a half-cycle is clocked by either the first or the second clock signals, wherein the last domino gate in a half-cycle is clocked by either the third or the fourth clock cycles. The second clock signal is an inverse of the first clock signal, and the third and fourth clock signals have local delayed clock phases in which the falling edges of the third and fourth clock signals are delayed relative to the falling edges of the respective first and second clock signals. In a first half-cycle, a first type of domino gate is controlled by the first clock signal, with subsequent domino gates of the same type being controlled by the third clock signal. Odd-numbered half-cycles begin with a domino gate of the second type controlled by the second clock signal, followed by domino gates of the first type controlled by the fourth clock signal.
