A wireless power transfer secondary or pick-up has a resonant circuit and a switch connected to the resonant circuit operable to produce a phase shift in an oscillating voltage or current in the resonant circuit. A controller is configured to operate the switch to introduce one or more controlled phase shifts in the oscillating voltage or current in the resonant circuit which encode data for detection by a coupled circuit.

Inductive power and data transfer using energy injection

A device for use in pressure sensing has a housing enclosing a chamber and having at least one port that communicates with the chamber. A pressure sensor receives fluid pressure from the chamber. The chamber has a compliance that exhibits a marked change in volumetric stiffness repeatably at a fixed pressure.

Implantable pressure sensor

A pressure sensor apparatus includes a plurality of pressure responsive chambers provided along a longitudinal dimension of the apparatus, and a pressure sensor device provided in each chamber which together provide a pressure profile in an anatomical cavity.

Pressure sensor

A device for use in pressure sensing such as hydrocephalus shunts, having a housing enclosing a chamber with at least one port communicating with the chamber. A wall of the chamber includes a flexible portion or thin diaphragm that deflects with transitions in pressure to contact an upstand structure of the housing. A pressure sensor is contained within an enclosure sealed from the chamber by a flexible membrane and which receives fluid pressure from the chamber. This arrangement allows for calibration of the device by identifying a knee feature in pressure data associated with the diaphragm making contact with the upstand.

Inductively powered mobile sensor system

The invention relates to inductive power transfer (IPT) systems, and has particular relevance to control of IPT systems, and to operation of IPT system primary power supplier. There is provided a method for controlling an IPT system primary power supply having a switched resonant circuit; the method comprising: determining the value of a parameter of the system; determining an energy injection switching pattern having a duration dependent on the parameter value; controlling the resonant circuit according to the determined energy injection switching pattern.

Inductive power transfer control using energy injection

The present invention provides a power supply for an inductive power transfer (IPT) system, comprising a current-fed push-pull resonant converter comprising a parallel-tuned resonant tank and a pair of switches enabling selective shorting of the resonant tank; and a controller adapted to control a shorting period of the resonant converter by selectively operating the switches. Methods for controlling an IPT power supply are also disclosed. The power supply may be controlled to regulate the output of an IPT pick-up inductively coupled with the power supply in use, or to operate at a zero voltage switching (ZVS) frequency.

The present invention provides an inductively powered sensor system having a primary conductive path capable of being energized to provide an electromagnetic field in a defined space. An inductive power pick-up is associated with a sensor and is capable of receiving power from the field to supply the sensor. The system includes a first sensing unit to sense the power available to the pick-up and a control unit to increase or decrease the power available to the sensor dependant on the sensed power available.
