A method for synchronizing configuration states of a portable device across a plurality of computing platforms comprises associating a plurality of computing device platforms in a plurality of computing device types with a plurality of synchronization protocols; identifying a type of first computing device via a network; identifying a synchronization protocol associated with the computing device platform in the identified computing device; sending a configuration state from the portable device to the first computing device according to the identified synchronization protocol, and updating the configuration state according to user input on the first computing device; receiving an updated configuration state from the first computing device; translating the updated configuration state to a data format used by a second computing device platform in a second computing device; and storing the updated configuration state and the translated updated configuration state on the portable device.

Portable universal personal storage, entertainment, and communication device

A method implemented by a wearable wireless communication device ('WWCD') includes detecting a connection between the WWCD and an accessory device. The WWCD accesses a memory location in the accessory device, the memory location being designated for storing brand data indicating a brand identity associated with the accessory device. The WWCD determines a brand status of the accessory device based on data, if any, accessed from the memory location in the accessory device. The WWCD also determines one or more interactions permitted between the WWCD and the accessory device based at least in part on the brand status of the accessory device.

Identification and authorization of communication devices

Portable devices for synchronizing configuration states across a plurality of computing platforms, as well as providing interactivity between the platforms. In one aspect, a portable device comprises a processor and a memory. The memory associates a plurality of computing devices with a plurality of synchronization protocols. The portable device detects a presence of a first computing device on a network; connects to the first computing device on identifies the type of the first computing device; identifies a synchronization protocol associated with the type of the first computing device; sends a configuration state from the portable device to the first computing device according to the identified synchronization protocol, wherein the first computing device updates the configuration state according to user input on the computing device; receives an updated configuration state from the first computing device; and stores the updated configuration state on the portable device. In another aspect, a portable device provides consistent character experience across a plurality of devices. In another aspect, a portable device provides parental control and the ability to implement and update restrictions on availability of device features.

A gesture-based user interface comprises a wearable portable device storing a gesture profile for each of a plurality of different applications on the wearable portable device to define different gestures for the different applications, wherein each of the gesture profiles includes at least one gesture and a predetermined function associated with the at least one gesture; and a profile web service, wherein the portable device is in communication with the profile web service and is configured to download from the profile web service to the wearable portable device a customizable gesture profile for a particular one of the applications, wherein the customized gesture profile modifies at least one of the different gestures, the customized gesture profile comprising personal preferences of the user regarding the modified gesture, including physical attributes of the user.

Gesture-based user interface for a wearable portable device

Methods and systems for providing gesture-based power management for a wearable portable electronic device with display are described. An inertial sensor is calibrated to a reference orientation relative to gravity. Motion of the portable device is tracked with respect to the reference orientation, and the display is enabled when the device is within a viewable range, wherein the viewable range is a predefined rotational angle range in each of x, y, and z axis, to a user based upon a position of the device with respect to the reference orientation. Furthermore, the display is turned off if an object is detected within a predetermined distance of the display for a predetermined amount of time.

Gesture-based power management of a wearable portable electronic device with display

In an example embodiment, a computing module includes a case, an optical display subsystem coupled to the case, a circuit element assembly, a power cell and an interface connector. The case includes a bottom portion and multiple lateral sidewalls. The case defines an enclosure. The circuit element assembly is positioned within the enclosure and is coupled to the optical display subsystem. The power cell is coupled to the circuit element assembly. The interface connector is defined in the case and includes multiple side openings, multiple bottom openings and multiple connector pads. The side openings are defined in at least one of the lateral sidewalls. The bottom openings are defined in the bottom portion of the case. The connector pads include multiple side pads coupled to the case and in communication with the side openings and multiple bottom pads coupled to the case and in communication with the bottom openings.

Wearable computing module

A method for manufacturing an interchangeable movement includes assembling parts into a movement subassembly, such that the subassembly is a complete working mechanism; enclosing the subassembly in a body; integrating a glass with the body, wherein the body comprises a single shell with only an opening that receives the glass, sealing the glass and the single shell to enclose the body, thereby creating a water resistant modular movement; and wherein the modular movement is insertable into a case of a portable device having a receptacle for removably receiving the modular movement without tools and in a manner where the glass of the modular movement is visible through the case when the modular movement is inserted.

Modular movement that is fully functional standalone and interchangeable in other portable devices

Methods and systems for providing a gesture-based user interface for a wearable portable device are described. A gesture including a movement of the wearable portable device is received, and at least one character associated with the gesture is identified and displayed on the wearable portable device, thereby allowing entry of characters on the user interface of the wearable portable device using the gestures.

Methods and systems for transferring an object from a sending device to a recipient comprises determining at least one catching device associated with the recipient for receiving the object; receiving on the sending device a user gesture representing a flick of a displayed object; transferring the object from the sending device directly to the catching device of the recipient when the catching device is in proximity of the sending device; and when the catching device is not in proximity of the sending device, transferring the object to a server for forwarding the object to the recipient.

File sharing between devices

A portable device comprising a modular movement is disclosed. The modular movement has a body housing a plurality of layers that include a top layer of glass, and a movement subassembly for displaying information, including time, wherein the modular movement includes all parts necessary for power and operation, including the displaying of the information, such that the modular movement is fully functional standalone. The portable device further includes a case, which includes a receptacle for removably receiving the modular movement without need for a tool, such that the modular movement is user-interchangeable with another case of another portable device.
