A high speed cable with terminating assemblies at the respective ends of the cable includes a ground wire, one or more signal wires, and a conductive layer enclosing the ground wire and the signal wires. The ground wire as well as the signal wires and the conductive layer extend into the terminating assemblies, in each of which corresponding inductive elements are coupled between the conductive layer and the ground wire. In each terminating assembly, the ground wire is shunted to the conductive layer by inductive elements, thus providing added low frequency connectivity in the cable, while at the same time blocking high frequency noise energy that may be present in the ground wire and preventing it from being coupled into, and transmitted through, the conductive layer.

High-speed data cable with shield connection

A high speed data cable carries high-speed and auxiliary signals, and includes a raw cable. The raw cable includes coaxial lines which are covered by an outer conductive shield. High-speed signals are carried on the inner conductors of a pair of coaxial lines. Lower speed signals are carried on the galvanically or capacitively coupled shields of a pair of coaxial lines, and/or the outer conductive shield.

A high speed video cable carries signals according to the High-Definition Multimedia Interface (HDMI) or DisplayPort standards, and includes a raw cable and a boost device. The raw cable is exclusively constructed with either Shielded Twisted Pairs (STP) or coaxial lines which carry all signals on either shielded wires or their shields. The high speed signals are carried on the shielded wires to the boost device where any common mode noise induced by the signals on the shields is removed. The resultant loss of signal is made up with the boost device mounted in the connector at the other end of the cable.

The raw cable includes coaxial lines which are covered by an outer metallic braid. Each of four high speed video signals is carried on the inner conductors of a pair of coaxial lines. Lower speed signals are carried on the galvanically or capacitively coupled shields of a pair of coaxial lines, as well as the braid of the cable.

A system for providing a power signal of a predetermined voltage to an input of a High Definition Multimedia Interface (HDMI) sink device is provided. The system includes an electronic device, generating HDMI signals transmitted on at least one differential signal line to another input of the HDMI sink device, and a startup circuit, providing the power signal of the predetermined voltage. The startup circuit includes a power harvesting circuit for obtaining an electrical power of a lower voltage, lower than the predetermined voltage, from at least one of the HDMI signals on the another input, and a voltage raiser circuit increasing the lower voltage to the predetermined voltage. A corresponding electronic cable containing the start-up circuit is also provided.

A High Definition Multimedia Interface (HDMI) cable carries high speed encoded data, which are transmitted differentially over data channels, along with a clock. A Mobile High-Definition Link (MHL) cable carries high speed data which are multiplexed to achieve smaller connectors with fewer pins. A MHL-to-HDMI cable is proposed, which includes an embedded MHL to HDMI adapter device for demultiplexing the received MHL-formatted signal and outputting an HDMI-formatted signal. The embedded circuit is powered by a combination of power sources, the power being harvested from the high-speed HDMI signals themselves, including a startup circuit harvesting power from a low speed HDMI signal when power from the high-speed HDMI signals is not available.
