An electrically conductive element, including an insulator and a first conductor, is provided, which can be affixed to a second conductor consisting of conductive structural element, wherein the insulator is positioned between the first and second conductors to electrically isolate them. A power supply may be connected between the first and second conductors to provide power thereto, and an electrical device may be connected across the first and second conductors.

Electrically conductive element, system, and method of manufacturing

In a preferred embodiment, a membrane for use as an underlayment includes a basemat, which includes at least three plies, a ply of a meltblown polymer sandwiched between two plies of spunbond polymer; and a flexible coating applied to the basemat, the coating having a cementitious hydraulic component, a polymer comprising a water-soluble, film-forming polymer; and water. The finished membrane is flexible. Another embodiment for an underlayment for use underneath ceramic tiles includes a basemat and a coating of a set hydraulic component less than &#x215b;&#x2033; inches thick. A method of making the flexible membrane includes assembling components including a hydraulic component, a water-soluble, film-forming polymer and water, then mixing them to form a coating. A basemat is provided onto which the coating is applied over a flexible surface or no surface. After coating at least one face of the basemat, the coating is dried to form the membrane.

Flexible and rollable cementitious membrane and method of manufacturing it

A heating system which may include a bonding membrane having a water permeable lamina, an electrically conductive ink-based radiant heater, and a first adhesive adapted to adhere to both the conductive ink-based radiant heater and the bonding membrane. The heating system may be incorporated in a floor including a substrate, the heating system and a decorative floor surface. The heating system may also be in the form of a multilayer panel having a bonding membrane, an electrically conductive ink-based heater including a plurality of electrically resistive strips printed on a first polymer sheet connected by electrically conductive buses, and electrical conductors extending from the buses to at least an edge of the panel.

Heating system

The present invention relates to a sound rated floor system for inhibiting sound transmission between floors. The system includes a corrugated steel deck; a first layer of cementitious material or board or sheet applied over the corrugated steel deck; a sound insulation mat or board applied over the first layer; a second layer of cementitious material applied over the sound insulation mat or board. The floor system has an IIC rating of at least 25 and the corrugated steel deck provides at least 50 percent of the ultimate load carrying capacity under static and impact loading of the floor system with a floor deflection of at most 1/360 of the floor span.

The process of the present invention includes obtaining a feed material having an initial median particle size. A solution of a polycarboxylate dispersant in water is formed, then the feed material is added to the solution to form a slurry. The slurry is wet-ground to reduce the median particle size of the feed material. Optionally, the total amount of polycarboxylate dispersant is divided into a plurality of doses that are added periodically over the total grinding time.

A coating for preparing a floor underlayment to receive an adhesive includes a water-soluble, latex polymer, a defoamer and a dual-function surface enhancing agent. The surface enhancing agent includes a set accelerator that also functions to cross link the adhesive, hardening the surface of the underlayment using at least two mechanisms. One embodiment of the invention is a dry mixture that forms a coating when added to water. The dry mixture includes from about 10% to about 50% of the redispersible polymer by weight based on the mixture, from about 50% to about 90% of the surface enhancing agent and from about 0.15% to about 0.25% of the defoamer by weight based on the mixture. Other embodiments describe a liquid coating formed by adding from about 1 to about 8 parts water to 1 part of the dry mixture by volume based on the mixture.
