An information handling system includes a battery, a managed device, a host processing complex to instantiate a hosted processing environment, a wireless management module, and a management controller coupled to the wireless management module. The wireless management module includes a wireless transceiver. When the host processing complex is unpowered, the wireless management module receives power from the battery and receives configuration information for the managed device via the wireless transceiver. The management manages the managed device out of band from the hosted processing environment based upon the configuration information.

System and method for provisioning a powered off server in a data center

A crate for shipping an information handling system includes a first side comprising an electro-magnetic protective material. The electro-magnetic protective material inhibits electro-magnetic intrusions into the information handling. The crate also includes a second side comprising a first portion comprising the electro-magnetic protective material, and a second portion devoid of the electro-magnetic protective material. System and method for providing wireless communications to a boxed server

A rootkit detection method includes obtaining, from a target system, first data comprising raw data stored in a data block of a storage drive, checking the first data for known malware, and generating a first alert if known malware is detected. The drive may include a public key, the first data may include a digital signature based on the key, and checking the first data may include validating the signature. The method may be performed by a system management resource that sends a management request for a particular data block. Second data, corresponding to an operating system access of the particular data block, may be obtained and compared to the first data. Responsive to detecting a discrepancy, generating a second alert. The system management resource may be a cloud based server, a premise installed appliance, premise installed security server, or a management controller of the target system.

An information handling system, comprising a host processing complex that instantiates a hosted processing environment, a managed element, a management controller to manage the managed element out of band from the hosted processing environment, and a wireless management module coupled to the management controller, the wireless management module including a wireless transceiver to wirelessly couple a mobile device to the management controller, wherein the management controller receives a direction from the mobile device to manage the managed element.

System and method for providing a wireless device connection in a server rack of a data center

A cable management system includes a cable that transmits data between information handling systems (IHSs). The cable includes a first end and a second end that is opposite the cable from the first end. A first connector is located on the first end of the cable and couples the cable to a first IHS. A second connector is located on the second end of the cable and couples the cable to a second IHS. A first communication system is located adjacent the first end of the cable. The first communication system receives and stores first IHS information about the first IHS when the first connector is coupled to the first IHS and second IHS information about the second IHS when the second connector is coupled to the second IHS. The first communication system may then provide the first and second IHS information to a management device.
