Rechargeable batteries include a NiFecathode where 0≤y≤1, an anode comprising a current collector, a porous separator positioned between the cathode and the anode, and an electrolyte comprising MAlX, wherein M is Na, Li, K, or a combination thereof, and X is Cl, Br, I, or a combination thereof, and wherein the electrolyte is a solid at temperatures less than 50° C. The batteries are temperature activated. The electrolyte temperature is increased above its melting point while charging and reduced below the melting point for energy storage, such as seasonal energy storage. The electrolyte temperature is increased above the melting point again to discharge the battery.

Seasonal energy storage technologies based on rechargeable batteries

A redox flow battery stack cell frame comprising a support frame and a monolithic bipolar plate integrated within the support frame is disclosed. The bipolar plate comprises a plurality of interdigitated flow channels on at least one surface. The support frame comprises an inlet manifold formed into a facing surface of the first side of the frame, the inlet manifold comprising fluid inlet distribution channels in a serpentine arrangement, each fluid inlet distribution channel aligned with a single inlet flow channel of the bipolar plate; and an outlet manifold formed into the facing surface of the opposing side of the frame, the outlet manifold comprising fluid outlet distribution channels in a serpentine arrangement, each fluid outlet distribution channel aligned with a single outlet flow channel of the bipolar plate. Redox flow battery stack cells and stacks comprising the stack cell frame are also disclosed.

High performance redox flow battery stack

An electrically driven oxygen separation assembly and method for applying an electrical potential in which the assembly has one or more tubular membrane elements. The potential is applied at two central spaced locations of a tubular membrane element and at least at opposite end locations thereof. As a result the electric current flow through the tubular membrane element is divided into two parts flowing between the two central spaced locations and the opposite end locations. Additionally, the present invention also provides an end seal to be used in connection with tubular membrane elements.

Oxygen separation assembly and method

A module and an apparatus incorporating such module utilizing a plurality of tubular membrane elements, each configured to separate oxygen from an oxygen containing feed stream when an electric potential difference is applied to induce oxygen ion transport in an electrolyte thereof. The tubular membrane elements can be arranged in a bundle that is held in place by end insulating members. The insulating members can be positioned within opposed openings of end walls of a heated enclosure and can incorporate bores to allow an oxygen containing feed stream to flow past exposed ends of the tubular membrane elements for cooling the end seals of such elements. Further, first and second manifolds can be provided in a module in accordance with the present invention to collect separated oxygen from two separate portions of the tubular membrane elements.

Oxygen separation module and apparatus

Purification method and apparatus for purifying a gas stream by oxygen removal. The apparatus includes primary and secondary oxygen separation zones and tubular electrically driven oxygen separation elements. There are more elements in the primary zone than the secondary zone so that low concentrations of oxygen can be obtained in a purified stream and turbulent flow conditions can also be obtained that will permit purification to very low levels. In addition, a junction is provided to connect the tubular separation elements to metallic elements such as manifolds.

Purification method and junction for related apparatus

An electrochemical cell assembly in which one or more grounded conduits, that can be an oxygen product tube or simply inlets or outlets, are connected to the electrically driven oxygen separator. In order to prevent the conduit(s) from degrading due to electrochemical reduction due to the electrical potential produced between the electrically driven oxygen separator(s) and the grounded conduit or conduits, a conduit is formed in whole or in part by a ceramic material that is an electric insulator and that is also resistive to electrochemical reduction. The ceramic material comprises distinct phases of magnesia and spinel or magnesia, spinel and yttrium aluminate.

Electrochemical cell assembly

A disposable container with litter for animals. The container includes a base containing absorbent particles and a lid shaped and dimensioned to be inverted and placed beneath the base to catch particles pawed from the container by an animal. The container causes an animal to utilize absorbent particles in the central portion of the container and to avoid using absorbent particles near the peripheral areas of the container.

Disposable tray and stand

A cover for the bed of a pickup truck. The cover can be utilized either as a tensioned cover attached to the upper edges of the walls of the truck bed to span the floor of the bed or can be utilized as a collapsible tent erected in the truck bed. The cover includes an articulated support frame adapted to be assembled to enclose and define a chamber and to be disassembled for compact storage; a first sheet of pliable material having a pair of opposed side edges adapted for detachable connection to the walls of the bed of a truck to tension the first sheet in horizontal orientation over the floor of the truck bed; a second sheet of pliable material attached to the first sheet and having an outer edge adapted to be connected to one of the bed walls; and, a third sheet of pliable material attached to the first sheet and having an outer edge adapted to be connected to one of the bed walls. The second and third sheets are folded inside the bed walls beneath the first sheet when the opposed side edges of the first sheet are connected to the bed walls to tension the first sheet over the floor of the truck bed. The first, second and third sheets fit over the frame with the outer edges of the second and third sheets connected to the bed wall when the opposed side edges of the first sheet are disconnected from the bed walls and the frame is assembled in the truck bed beneath the first, second and third sheets.
