A climate control system for a vehicle comprises a defroster assembly having a temperature sensor that detects an interior temperature of an interior of the vehicle, a camera disposed within the interior that has a lens facing a windshield, and at least one vent directed at the windshield. A body controller that, responsive to a temperature of the interior being less than a temperature threshold, and a light refractive index of the windshield being less than an opacity threshold, outputs a status of the windshield. A telematics communication system that, responsive to the status from the body controller, transmits a notification to an application stored on a mobile telecommunications device.

Automatic windshield defrosting system

A system includes a mobile device and a fob, each having a short-range wireless transceiver. The mobile device is programmed to transmit a message to the fob indicating a fob action using the mobile device transceiver. The fob is programmed to, using the fob transceiver, receive the message and transmit a second message to a vehicle requesting the vehicle to perform the fob action.

An embedded modem for a vehicle is provisioned by requesting confirmation of the modem configuration from a telematics server. A request is received over a vehicle bus from an electronic control unit (ECU) requesting confirmation of an ECU configuration assigned by the end-of-line systems. The embedded modem sends the request to the telematics server for confirmation, and reports a result from the telematics server to the ECU. A telematics server receives a request to provision an ECU from an embedded modem of a vehicle that was provisioned using the telematics server, forwards the request to a backend system configured to process the request, receives a response to the request from the backend server, and makes the response available to the embedded modem.

A vehicle that includes in-vehicle controller(s) coupled to an external network transceiver, and configured to register a key fob and/or a mobile device configured as a key fob. The transceiver is configured to communicate autonomously with remote servers to respond to a key fob signal received from the server, which includes an authentication code and a remote control command generated by the key fob and/or mobile device configured as the key fob. In further variations, the key fob is also configured to be paired and/or registered by an external mobile device, by the authentication code, and to generate the remote control command via the mobile device. In response to the key fob signal, the controller(s) autonomously adjust vehicle systems, such as locking or unlocking, arming and disarming a security system, adjusting cabin and/or seat temperature and configuration preferences, as well as other driver vehicle preferences.

A system includes a processor configured to communicate wirelessly with a mobile device, wherein the processor is further configured to receive output data from a navigation application running on the mobile device. The processor is also configured to send data back through the mobile device to a standardization system, including a request for standardization, running on a remote system, if the output data is in an unusable format. Also, the processor is configured to receive a standardized form of the data, having been standardized by the remote standardization system. The processor is further configured to process the standardized data to provide navigation directions through one or more vehicle outputs controllable by the processor.

The speed may be determined based on the one or more signals. If the determined speed exceeds a speed threshold, a speed restriction flag may be set and one or more functions of the mobile applications may be restricted. If, after setting the speed restriction flag, a speed cannot be determined, the application functions may be continually restricted until a speed can be determined.

A system includes a processor configured to determine that an application is running in a foreground. The processor is also configured to receive a mobile device speed. The processor is additionally configured to determine if the mobile device speed is above a predetermined threshold. Also, the processor is configured to determine if an interface threshold has been exceeded and lock out the application from use if the mobile device speed is above the predetermined threshold and the interface threshold has been exceeded.

A system comprising one or more transceivers in communication with a vehicle computing system, the one or more transceivers are also in communication with at least one server. The at least one server is configured to receive an email including a subscriber identification and data formatted by a service provider. The at least one server is further configured to parse the email to retrieve the data formatted by the service provider and identify information usable by the vehicle computing system in the retrieved data. The at least one server is further configured to extract the identified information and transmit the information for communication to the vehicle computing system.

Various embodiments relate to remote operator assistance for one or more user commands at a vehicle. The operator assistance may occur via a vehicle computing system. One or more instances of an unsuccessful attempt to perform a user command may be received by the vehicle computing system. After detection of a predetermined number of instances, a connection may be established, via the vehicle computing system, with a remotely located system. The remotely-located system may be operated by a human operator in order to assist with performance of the user command. An information exchange may be facilitated between the vehicle and the remotely located system operated by the human operator. The information exchange may relate to the user command. The user command may be performed in the vehicle based on information obtained from the remotely-located system.

Remote operator assistance for one or more user commands in a vehicle

A navigation information distribution system comprising one or more servers in communication with each other to parse embedded data attached to an electronic mail message. The servers are configured to receive an email including destination data associated with subscriber identification. Before parsing the embedded data, the server may confirm the subscriber identification included in the email is a valid active subscriber. After confirmation of the subscriber's status, the servers parse the destination data from the email and determine a location based on the destination data using a map database. After parsing, the server may receive a request for the location from a nomadic wireless device for downloading. The request from the nomadic wireless device may include the subscriber identification to associate the stored data on the server with the subscriber. The server may transmit the location for communication to the nomadic wireless device.
