The present disclosure is directed to a wiping product well suited to absorbing a solvent and releasing the solvent onto an adjacent surface. The wiping product can also be constructed so as to have excellent abrasion resistance. The wiping product can be used in numerous applications and is particularly well suited for wiping unfinished surfaces, such as metal surfaces and composite surfaces for removing contaminants, such as oil and grease. The wiping product is made from a hydroentangled and thermally bonded web containing staple fibers and conjugated fibers.

The present invention relates to a nonwoven acquisition distribution layer comprising: a) layered carded webs wherein the first layer comprises a carded web with high denier fibers wherein the denier is greater than about 5 d and a second layer comprising a carded web with low denier fibers wherein the denier is less than about 5 d and is positioned just below and in direct contact with the first layer; and b) a deflection layer comprising a fibrous nonwoven web wherein the fibrous nonwoven web has at least one component comprising meltblown, said meltblown having a basis weight of from about 15 gsm to about 50 gsm and having an air permeability of from about 45 ft/min/ftto about 350 ft/min/ft; and wherein the deflection layer is positioned just below and in direct contact with said second layer of said layered carded web.

Acquisition distribution laminate

A resilient coform nonwoven web that contains a matrix of meltblown fibers and an absorbent material is provided. The meltblown fibers may constitute from 45 wt % to about 99 wt % of the web and the absorbent material may constitute from about 1 wt % to about 55 wt % of the web. The meltblown fibers may be formed from a thermoplastic composition that contains at least one propylene/&#x3b1;-olefin copolymer having a propylene content of from about 60 mole % to about 99.5 mole % and an &#x3b1;-olefin content of from about 0.5 mole % to about 40 mole %. The copolymer may have a density of from about 0.86 to about 0.90 grams per cubic centimeter and the thermoplastic composition may have a melt flow rate of from about 200 to about 6000 grams per 10 minutes, determined at 230&#xb0; C. in accordance with ASTM Test Method D1238-E. The coform web may be imparted with a three-dimensional texture by, for example, using a three-dimensional forming surface. As one example, the resilient coform web is suitable for use as a component in the absorbent core of a personal care absorbent product.

Disclosed herein is a cellulosic textile filament made from microfibrillar cellulose fibers and a thickening agent as well as the precursor dope for forming such filaments, nonwoven webs made from such cellulosic textile filaments and the process for forming such filaments and nonwoven webs including such filaments. One of the advantages of these filaments is the eco-sensitive way in which they are made as they utilize a water-based dope that does not require any chemical solvents unlike other processes such as those used to make Lyocell fibers. In addition, the process does not involve any washing or extraction steps and it employs a cellulosic fiber source that is broadly based and renewable.

A method of making a resilient tampon includes the steps of providing binder fibers having an average fiber length of at least 35 mm; combining the binder fibers to form a loose fleece; activating the binder fibers; and compressing a portion of the loose fleece into a pledget after activating the binder fibers. A resilient tampon includes 70 wt % to 95 wt % absorbent fibers and 5 wt % to 30 wt % bicomponent binder fibers. The binder fibers have an average fiber length greater than 35 mm.

Resilient tampon and method for making

A flexible coform nonwoven web that contains a matrix of meltblown fibers and an absorbent material is provided. The meltblown fibers may constitute from about 2 wt % to about 40 wt % of the coform web. The absorbent material may constitute from about 60 wt % to about 98 wt % of the coform web. The Cup Crush Energy/Thickness ratio of the nonwoven structure is desirably less than about 600. The coform web may be imparted with a three-dimensional texture by, for example, using a three-dimensional forming surface. The coform web is suitable for forming absorbent articles such as wipers and personal care absorbent products.

An elastic laminate that contains a nonwoven web bonded to an elastic layer is provided. The elastic layer contains one or more elastomeric polymers that are generally polar in nature, such as polyurethanes. To the contrary, the nonwoven web is formed from a material that is non-polar in nature. Nevertheless, one or more surfaces of the nonwoven web are fluorinated so that the resulting surface tension is increased. In this manner, the present inventors have discovered that, despite the difference in polarity between the layers, good attachment may be achieved without necessarily requiring an adhesive. Not only will such layers remained attached, but the functionality of the resulting laminate is also not adversely affected.

An article comprises a stretchable absorbent composite () that includes a quantity of superabsorbent particles () which are operatively contained within a matrix of elastomeric polymer fibers (). In particular aspects, the composite article can include at least about 60 wt % of the superabsorbent particles and not more than about 40 wt % of the elastomeric polymer fibers, based on a total weight of the composite. In other aspects, the composite article can provide a high stretchability. Additional aspects can provide a low shake-out. Particular configurations can, for example, provide a stretchability value of at least about 30%. Additional aspects can include a configuration that provides a shake-out value of not more than about 2%. In further aspects, the absorbent composite can include superabsorbent particles having a coating of treatment-material that is thermally processible. Additional aspects can include a treatment-material which is water soluble.

A personal care absorbent article such as a disposable diaper, sanitary pad or tampon, wound dressing or bandage which includes a nonwoven web material made from a plurality of polymeric fibers having at least one treatment chemistry suitable for modifying at least one characteristic of a high viscoelasticity fluid upon contact with the high viscoelasticity fluid. In accordance with one particularly preferred embodiment, the treatment chemistry is suitable for immobilizing the high viscoelasticity fluid within the nonwoven web material.

A stretchable absorbent composite having a Composite Permeability of about 10 Darcy or more, or about 15 Darcy or more, and Composite Stretchability of about 30% or more, or about 50% or more, or about 100% or more, and a method of making such a stretchable absorbent composite. The stretchable absorbent composite includes a superabsorbent material, an elastomeric material, and, optionally, pulp fibers. More particularly, the stretchable absorbent composite may include between about 30% and about 85% by weight superabsorbent material, between about 5% and about 25% by weight elastomeric material, and between about 10% and about 70% by weight pulp fibers. The stretchability and liquid handling abilities of the stretchable absorbent composite renders the stretchable absorbent composite suitable for incorporation into a variety of absorbent articles, including personal care products, health/medical absorbent articles, and household/industrial absorbent articles, for example.

In one embodiment, a core composition comprising the activation means is surrounded by an encapsulation layer. The core composition comprising the activation means may be introduced into wet wipes such that, upon rupture and contact between the supersaturated solution and the activation means, the wet wipe solution is warmed resulting in a warm sensation on a user's skin. Any number of other active ingredients, such as biocides, can also be incorporated into the personal care product.
