Methods to improve the efficiency of satellite transmission by coordinating the use of corresponding channels on adjacent satellites. Improvements over the current state of the art range from 130% to 1000%, yielding in the best case full utilization of potential bandwidth.

Use of satellites by terminals with small antennas

A low profile receiving and/or transmitting antenna includes an array of antenna elements that collect and coherently combine millimeter wave or other radiation. The antenna elements are physically configured so that radiation at a predetermined wavelength band impinging on the antenna at a particular angle of incidence is collected by the elements and collected in-phase. Two or more mechanical rotators may be disposed to alter the angle of incidence of incoming or outgoing radiation to match the particular angle of incidence.

Low profile antenna for satellite communication

Plural panelized phased arrays, possibly including electronic tilt, are controlled in physical orientation to present a reduced physical profile. Each panel may include a non-linear shaped aperture which physically mates with other shaped apertures to maintain a composite tapered aperture for reduced side lobes. Long delay compensation to equalize RF radiator element signal propagation times improves bandwidth.

Low profile antenna

The present invention provides a speech recognizer that creates and updates the equalization vector as input speech is provided to the recognizer. The present invention includes a speech analyzer which transforms an input speech signal into a series of feature vectors or observation sequence. Each feature vector is then provided to a speech recognizer which modifies the feature vector by subtracting a previously determined equalization vector therefrom. The recognizer then performs segmentation and matches the modified feature vector to a stored model vector which is defined as the segmentation vector. The recognizer then, from time to time, determines a new equalization vector, the new equalization vector being defined based on the difference between one or more input feature vectors and their respective segmentation vectors. The new equalization vector may then be used either for performing another segmentation iteration on the same observation sequence or for performing segmentation on subsequent feature vectors.
