There is described an adjustable dose injection pistol comprising a body assembly (1) including an elongate chamber (8), a piston chamber (3) including a piston (13) slideable in the chamber (8) between filled and discharged positions and means for adjusting (16, 26, 19, 20, 22, 23) one of said positions. The means comprise a selectable plurality of channels (20, 22, 23) included in one of the assemblies (1, 3), the channels (20, 22, 23) being spaced about and parallel to the piston-chamber axis, and an arrestor (19) located on the other assembly (1, 3), the arrestor (19) being selectably engageable with an aligned channel (20, 22, 23) upon movement of said piston (13) between said positions. The channels (20, 22, 23) are preferably located in the piston assembly (3) on a sleeve (16) concentrically mounted with the piston (13) and rotable with respect to the chamber (8). The pistol may be used for the injection of liquids into animals.

An inhalation device for a powdered medicament contained initially in a container, which device comprises a swirl chamber adapted to receive a medicament container and having air inlets thereinto and a mouthpiece in communication therewith; a container receiving cavity also in communication with said swirl chamber; and piercing means operable to pierce a medicament container when in the cavity and to withdraw from the pierced container, said cavity being provided with obstructive means to prevent the container re-entering the cavity after being pierced.

The present invention provides an inhalation device for use with a pressurized container having an outlet valve mechanism and from which material may be discharged by depression of a portion of the valve mechanism thereof, which device comprises a chamber for receiving said container; actuating means adapted to bear on the valve mechanism of the container; and first and second biasing means both adapted to bias the container towards the actuating means, said first and second biasing means each being of insufficient force alone to depress the portion of the valve mechanism of the container but together being of sufficient force to do so, said second biasing means being restrained in a position in which it does not bear on the container and releasable on inhalation through the device to a position in which it does bear on the container.

An inhalation device for powdered medicaments in which the opening of the container in which the medicament is initially contained is achieved simply and reliably in situ in the device, the device being provided with means (24) for locating the container in a position to be opened and with appropriate opening means (20, 21) for the container, said opening means being normally in a non-opening position but movable successively into and out of a container opening position by movement in one direction of a cam surface (7, 8, 30, 31) acting thereon, the cam surface being provided with a step or steps (9, 10) to prevent reverse movement of the cam surface after opening of the container has been achieved. The cam surface (7, 8) is preferably provided on one housing member (1) and the opening means (20, 21) on a second housing member (2) so that attachment of the housing members (1, 2) simultaneously opens the container.
