A transparent armor construction having a laminate structure with at least two layers. The layers are constructed of two different materials selected from the group of glass, ceramic, resin, polymeric material, and plastic and in which the at least two layers include different coefficients of thermal expansion. The layers are bonded together and a planar frame having an open central section and an outer border is then bonded to the laminate structure. The material for the planar frame is selected so that it has a coefficient of thermal expansion less than the coefficient of thermal expansion of the laminate layer to which it is bonded.

Transparent armor construction

An armor component includes a tile having a perimeter; and a wrapping material wrapped around the perimeter of the tile. An armor system includes a back plate; at least one tile array layer disposed on the back plate, the at least one tile array layer comprising a plurality of armor components wherein each armor component comprises a tile having a perimeter wrapped with a wrapping material; and a top layer disposed on the at least one tile array layer.

An apparatus for monitoring the cure of a resin-impregnated material includes a pultrusion die; a plurality of first electrodes mounted in the pultrusion die; a plurality of insulators surrounding the plurality of first electrodes, respectively, in the pultrusion die; a resin-impregnated preform that includes a second electrode therein, the resin-impregnated preform being inserted into the pultrusion die; a constant contact electrode that contacts the second electrode; and a power supply connected to the constant contact electrode wherein electric current flows from the power supply to the constant contact electrode then to the second electrode then through the resin-impregnated preform to the plurality of first electrodes.
