A one-way clutch, including: pocket and inner rings; rollers between the rings; springs urging the rollers in a first circumferential direction; a switch ring including protrusions in contact with the rollers and having ramps. In a one-way configuration: the inner and pocket rings non-rotatably connect for relative rotation of the inner ring, with respect to the pocket ring, in the first circumferential direction; and for a free-wheel mode, the inner ring is rotatable in a second circumferential direction with respect to the pocket ring. In an open configuration: the inner and pocket rings are independently rotatable. To transition from the one-way clutch configuration to the open configuration: the actuator axially displaces the switch ring with respect to the pocket ring; the ramps slide along the pocket ring to rotate the switch ring in the second circumferential direction; and the protrusions displace the rollers in the second circumferential direction.

Controllable one-way clutch

A hybrid module includes a housing, an annular stator, first and second annular rotors, and a first bearing. The housing is arranged for fixing to a combustion engine and a multi-speed transmission of a vehicle. The annular stator is fixed to the housing. The first annular rotor is disposed on a first axial side of the stator. The second annular rotor is disposed on a second axial side of the stator, opposite the first axial side. The first bearing is installed between the first annular rotor or the second annular rotor, and the annular stator. In an example embodiment, the first annular rotor or the second annular rotor includes an annular magnet. In an example embodiment, the first annular rotor is fixed to the second annular rotor.

Hybrid module

A clutch plate includes an annular body having inner and outer diameters and first and second parallel surfaces extending therebetween; and an integral resilient portion connected to the annular body by a first circumferentially extending tab and including third and fourth parallel surfaces extending at respective acute angles to the first and second parallel surfaces; and, wherein the resilient portion fourth surface includes an edge including the outer diameter; and an axial distance of the edge is greater than a thickness of the annular body when measured from the first surface.

Reduced drag clutch plate

A clutch carrier includes a stamped carrier and a hub portion. The stamped carrier has a first circumferential wall, a second circumferential wall axially and radially offset from the first circumferential wall, and a first radial wall extending radially inward from the second circumferential wall. The hub portion has a third circumferential wall extending from the first radial wall, a fourth circumferential wall axially and radially offset from the third circumferential wall, and a second radial wall connecting the third and fourth circumferential walls. In some example embodiments, the first circumferential wall includes a plurality of axially extending fingers for driving engagement with a clutch plate. In an example embodiment, each of the plurality of axially extending fingers includes a groove for receiving a retaining ring.

Clutch carrier assembly

A clutch disc, including: an axis of rotation; an annular core ring; a first plurality of spline teeth forming a first radially outermost portion of the clutch disc; and a second plurality of spline teeth forming a second radially outermost portion of the clutch disc, respective spline teeth in the second plurality of spline teeth alternating, in a circumferential direction, with respective teeth in the first plurality of spline teeth. A circle passing through the first plurality of spline teeth does not pass through the second plurality of spline teeth.

A transmission including: a first number of input shafts; an output shaft; a second number of gears non-rotatably connected to the output shaft; a third number of lay shafts; and full synchronizer clutches. Each full synchronizer clutch includes: a respective first half synchronizer clutch arranged to non-rotatably connect a respective first gear to a respective lay shaft included in the third number of lay shafts, and disconnect the respective first gear from the respective lay shaft; and a respective second half synchronizer clutch arranged to non-rotatably connect a respective second gear to the respective lay shaft, and disconnect the respective second gear from the respective lay shaft. The transmission is arranged to provide a fourth number of total reverse and forward speed ratios equal to the first number multiplied by the second number multiplied by the third number.

Transmission with dual input and gear ratio multiplication

A clutch plate includes first and second axially offset annular surfaces, a first angled surface extending at an acute angle from the first annular surface in a first axial direction, and a second angled surface extending at an acute angle from the first annular surface in a second axial direction, opposite the first axial direction. In some example embodiments, the clutch plate has a wet friction material fixed to the first and second annular surfaces and at least one of the first and second angled surfaces. In an example aspect, the clutch plate has a low friction wet friction material fixed to the wet friction material of the at least one of the first and second angled surfaces. The low friction wet friction material may be fixed to the wet friction material by infusion or bonding. In an example embodiment, the clutch plate has a first wet friction material fixed to the first and second annular surfaces, and a second, low friction wet friction material fixed to at least one of the first and second angled surfaces.

A concentric slave cylinder is provided. The concentric slave cylinder includes a housing including a wall; a piston slidable along the wall in a forward direction and a return direction, the piston including a first angled surface, the piston and the housing forming a hydraulic chamber therebetween; and a ring slidable along the wall in the hydraulic chamber in the forward direction and limiting sliding of the piston in the return direction, the ring including a frustoconical portion having a second angled surface for engaging the first angled surface to limit the sliding of the piston in the return direction.

Concentric slave cylinder including one-way clutch

A double clutch mounting assembly for a motor vehicle drive train is provided. The double clutch mounting assembly includes a double clutch; a damper configured for connecting the double clutch to an engine crankshaft; and a clutch actuator for actuating the double clutch fixed to the double clutch. One of the double clutch and the damper includes a pilot configured for insertion into an engine crankshaft to center the double clutch, damper and clutch actuator with respect to the engine crankshaft. A method of forming a double clutch mounting assembly is also provided. The method includes forming a subassembly by axially fixing a dual mass flywheel and a double clutch together and axially fixing a concentric slave cylinder to the double clutch.

A transmission including first and second input shafts rotatable about a first axis of rotation; at least one output shaft rotatable about at least one second axis of rotation, the at least one second axis of rotation non-collinear with the first axis of rotation; a plurality of lay shafts; a plurality of gears; and a plurality of half synchronizer clutches arranged to non-rotatably connect at least a portion of the plurality of gears to the plurality of lay shafts to transmit respective torque from the first and second input shafts to the at least one output shaft and disconnect the at least a portion of the plurality of gears from the plurality of lay shafts.

A double clutch, including: a backing plate; a first clutch including at least one first clutch plate, a first pressure plate, a first plurality of levers engaged with the first pressure plate, a first shim engaged with the first plurality of levers, and a first actuator engaged with the first shim and arranged to axially displace the first shim to close the first clutch; and a second clutch including: at least one second clutch plate, a second pressure plate, a second plurality of levers engaged with the second pressure plate aligned with the first plurality of levers such that a first line in the circumferential direction passes through the first and second pluralities of levers, a second shim engaged with the second plurality of levers, and a second actuator engaged with the second shim and arranged to axially displace the second shim to close the second clutch.

A pivot ring for a clutch includes a central axis; a plurality of circumferentially curved portions; a plurality of engagement portions, each engagement portion circumferentially disposed between respective first and second circumferentially curved portions from the plurality of circumferentially curved portions and including: an alignment portion; a first and second stiffened attachment portions extending in lines from the alignment portion to the adjacent curved portions; and, first and second circumferential distal ends. Each engagement portion is arranged to receive a respective lever for the clutch; and, the first and second distal ends are arranged to fixedly connect to the clutch. Also presented is a clutch assembly including: an axis of rotation; a pressure plate having opposing first and second surfaces; a plurality of levers, and the pivot ring. Each lever is pivotably connected to a respective engagement portion, such that the plurality of levers is displaceable to close the clutch.

In a torque coupling having an input flange, an input shaft, an actuator, and a multiple clutch pack, and a driving mechanism, the present invention broadly comprises an actuator for transferring the input toque to the output shaft. The actuator comprises an actuator plate which is limited to only rotational movement, a pressure plate which is limited to only axial movement, and a plurality of actuator pins. The driving mechanism rotates the actuator plate through a gear set and forces the actuator pins to move vertically. The vertical movement of the actuator pins forces the pressure plate in an axial direction. In a torque coupling, the actuator is used to transfer the input torque to the output shaft through compression of the multiple clutch pack by the actuator.

All-wheel drive (AWD) coupling with a variable travel ratio and wear compensation

The present invention broadly comprises an assembly for incrementally changing an axially fixable position, including an annular gripping element with at least one deformation segment, a glide push ring axially displaceable along a pilot element, and a wedge push ring axially displaceable along the pilot element. The gripping element is in contact with a circumference of the pilot element and the deformable segments are circumferentially deformable in response to a change in a gripping element diameter. The glide ring incrementally urges the gripping element in a first direction along the pilot element. The gripping element axially fixes responsive to force applied by the wedge ring in a second direction, opposite the first direction, along the pilot element. A surface between gripping element inner and outer circumferences forms a fixed angle with the pilot element despite changes in the inner or outer circumferences.

The present invention is a device for transferring power flow from a multidisplacement engine to a transmission. The device includes an enclosed housing having a first shell on the engine side, a second shell on the transmission side, with the housing at least partially filled with oil and connected to an external oil pump. The device also includes a planetary gear set comprising an outer ring gear, a set of intermediate planet gears contained within a planet carrier, and a sun gear attached to a stator, a first clutch pack connecting the housing and the ring gear when engaged, a piston means designed to engage the first clutch pack, and a second clutch pack which connects the ring gear with the sun gear when engaged. A preloaded diaphragm spring connects the second clutch pack with the ring gear. First and second damper spring assemblies are also disclosed.
