A transom bracket assembly is for supporting a marine drive on a marine vessel. The assembly comprises a transom bracket comprising a swivel cylinder, a steering arm extending from the marine drive, a swivel tube having a first end coupled to the steering arm and a second end seated in the swivel cylinder so that steering of the steering arm relative to the transom bracket rotates the swivel tube in the swivel cylinder about a steering axis for the marine drive, and a yoke which couples the second end of the swivel tube to the marine drive.

A propeller device has a propeller hub which is elongated along the rotational axis and a propeller blade which radially extends from the propeller hub. The propeller hub and propeller blade are configured so that when the propeller device is forwardly rotated, a first portion of the propeller hub on a first side of the propeller blade encounters a positive pressure and a second portion of the propeller hub on an opposite, second side of the blade encounters a relatively lower pressure or suction, and further so that when the propeller device is reversely rotated, the second portion of the propeller hub encounters a positive pressure and the first portion of the propeller hub encounters a relatively lower pressure or suction. An exhaust vent hole is located in the first portion of the propeller hub and configured to vent exhaust gases from the marine drive via the propeller hub as the propeller device is reversely rotated, thereby enhancing reverse thrust performance of the propeller device.

A tamper-evident container closure device is provided. The device is securable to an open container to close the container. The closure device includes an electrically powered tamper-indicating means for indicating that the housing has been detached from the container after being secured to the container.

First and second pliable members are each attached to an outboard motor and to a fixed location on the transom or transom bracket associated with the outboard motor. One pliable member is used on the starboard side of the outboard motor while another is used on the port side. As the outboard motor is tilted about its trim axis, the two pliable members work in coordination with each other to exert a force on the outboard motor in a direction away from any direction in which the outboard motor is rotated about its steering axis as it is being tilted about its trim axis. This coordinated action by the two pliable members aligns the outboard motor in a straight ahead position when it is tilted upward into an inoperable position for transportation.

Alignment system for an outboard motor

A locking mechanism for an outboard motor is provided which prevents a moveable segment of the outboard motor from rotating about a steering axis relative to a stationary segment of the outboard motor. A slidable rod is disposed within a tilt tube of the outboard motor and is connected by a connecting link to the moveable segment of the outboard motor. If a locking device, such as a pin, is inserted through holes in the tilt tube and the rod, relative movement of the tilt tube and the rod can be prevented. If this relative movement is prevented, the moveable segment of the outboard motor is locked in position relative to the stationary segment of the outboard motor to which the tilt tube is attached.
