A sliding gate type outlet port for a semi-liquid manure spreader is presented. The spreader with which the gate is used has an open topped tank of triangular cross section supported on a tractor drawn trailer. The power takeoff from the tractor is coupled to a shaft extending internally the length of the tank near the bottom. At the rear wall of the tank the shaft is coupled to a centrifugal pump which communicates with the tank and flings manure received therefrom in an arc away from a discharge opening in the pump housing. A hydraulically actuated flow regulating gate slides fore and aft across the pump exit port. The horizontal movement of the gate in a support structure allows an opening of constant height to be maintained while varying the area of the discharge opening, thus providing constant spread width under various settings of deposition density.

Dispenser assembly for semi-liquid spreader

A spreader implement and drive gearbox therefor are provided that incorporate a single gearbox for driving both a distributor assembly for throwing manure and the like out of the spreader implement and for driving a transporting assembly for moving the manure or the like toward the distributor assembly. The single gearbox provides direct gear drive of one of the assemblies. The drive gearbox may include one or more biased clutch assemblies for clutching or varying the driving speed transmitted by the gearbox.

A hydraulically actuated endgate is presented which places a panel directly in front of the beaters of a manure spreader. The endgate retains all of the manure within the spreader box until the spreading site is reached. The panel is hinged mounted along its top edge to a generally U-shaped structural member. The central portion of the U-shaped member spans the box just in front of the beater. The legs of the U-shaped member are of equal length and extend forward along the sides of the spreader. The very ends are pivotally attached to the box, one on the left, the other on the right. A hydraulic piston attached to an arm secured to one of the pivot points makes it possible to move the structural member upward through an arc of about 100 degrees, then back down to the rest position.

Endgate for manure spreader

A flail auger assembly is disclosed which is useful for unloading semi-liquid material from a holding tank mounted on a tractor drawn trailer. A rotatably mounted shaft extends lengthwise through the lower portion of the tank. One end of the shaft penetrates the front wall of the tank enabling connection with the power takeoff of the tractor. The second end penetrates the rear wall of the tank where it connects with the impeller of the discharge pump. A plurality of flails extend radially outward at regular intervals along the shaft. The flails are pivotally attached via pins which secure them to brackets welded to the rotatably mounted shaft. The pivotal axis of each flail allows it to aggressively attack the material in the tank while at the same time limiting the power drain on the tractor since the radius of effectiveness decreases as a function of increasing load. The outward extending second end of the flails are twisted with respect to the pivot axes to impart both a chopping action and a rearward thrust to the semi-liquid material in the holding tank. The rearward thrust forces the semi-liquid slurry to enter the discharge pump via a port in the lower rear wall of the tank.
