A gun stability plate assembly includes a widened body that attaches to the fore-end of a stock or chassis of a gun by means of a clamping device. The assembly includes a main body, a clamp assembly, and a track. The clamp assembly is in communication with the main body and is configured to translate adjacent an upper surface of the main body. A rotating knob regulates operation of the clamp by rotating about an axis. The axis of the knob is coplanar with a central plane of the main body. The track is formed into the main body and configured to seat the clamp. The track is recessed into the main body. An accessory aperture is located within the main body and configured to permit attachment of one or more accessories.

Gun stability plate assembly

A vehicular powertrain system includes a prime mover having an output, a multi-ratio transmission having an input, and a torque reduction coupling system coupling the prime mover output and the multi-ratio transmission input. The exemplary torque reduction coupling system includes a clutch and a planetary gear set selectively coupling the prime mover output to the multi-ratio transmission input. The exemplary planetary gear set includes one components of the planetary gear set being selectively coupled to the clutch.

Driveline torque reducer

A hybrid powertrain system is provided that includes a first prime mover having a rotational output, a second prime mover having a rotational output, and a transmission having a main shaft supporting at least two main shaft gears thereon. The transmission includes a first independent countershaft drivingly connected to the first prime mover and including at least one ratio gear supported thereon that meshes with a respective main shaft gear. A second independent countershaft is drivingly connected to the second prime mover and includes at least one ratio gear supported thereon that meshes with a respective main shaft gear. The ratio gears on the first and second countershafts cooperate with the main shaft gears to provide at least one gear ratio between the first and second countershafts and the main shaft. A shift control mechanism selectively engages and disengages the first and second countershafts for rotation with the main shaft.

Variable valve actuator for internal combustion engine

An improved lubrication system for a ball ramp master clutch and a gear change transmission is disclosed where a lubricant pump is driven by the input shaft to a ball ramp mechanism which, when energized, applies a clamping force on a clutch pack where lubricant is supplied to the pump from a wet sump on the transmission and then lubricant is forced into the clutch assembly and also forced into the gear shaft transmission for eventual return into the sump for recirculation. In an alternate embodiment, a dry sump system is used where the oil flowing out of the transmission is pumped to dry sump where it is then recirculated to the pump.

Lubrication system for ball ramp clutch systems

A driveline master clutch assembly is disclosed where a unidirectional ball ramp mechanism is used to apply a clamping load to a clutch pack for frictionally coupling a prime mover such as an engine to a gear change transmission. The ball ramp mechanism includes index plates to limit the rotation of a control ring and an activation ring such that the energized ball ramp mechanism increases in separation distance to increase the clamping force on the clutch pack whenever there is slippage in the clutch pack irregardless of the direction of torque flow through the master clutch assembly.

A servo motor operated rotary air throttle has a driving member connected to the throttle shaft. The motor rotor is connected to the driving member in a lost motion connection. If the throttle is lodged due to ice formation, the motor rotor acquires rotary momentum relative to the driving member during the lost motion rotation and a projection on the rotor impacts the end of a slot in the driving member to impart a momentum pulse to the driving member and throttle shaft and dislodge the throttle.

A ball ramp mechanism is used to apply an axial force in the same regardless of the direction of the flow of torque whenever there is relative rotation between an input shaft and an output hub using unidirectional grooves in both a control ring and an activation ring where a first index plate limits the rotation of the activation ring and a second index plate limits the rotation of the control ring relative to the input shaft. An electrical coil is used to induce a magnetic field in a coil pole to magnetically couple a coil armature to an intermediate plate and the intermediate plate to an activation plate to energize the ball ramp mechanism.

A ball ramp mechanism is used to apply a clamping load to a clutch pack to rotationally couple an input shaft to an output shaft. The ball ramp mechanism is comprised of a control plate having a control extension radially extending therefrom and an activation plate having an activation extension radially extending therefrom and an intermediate plate disposed between the control extension and the activation extension where the control extension and the activation extension and the intermediate plate are frictionally rotationally coupled upon application of an electromagnetic field generated by a stationary coil acting through a rotating coil armature to activate the ball ramp mechanism. A gap sleeve contacts the control plate and the activation extension to limit the separation between the control extension, the intermediate plate and the activation extension. The activation plate is mounted to the input shaft through a first one-way clutch and the coil armature is mounted to the input shaft through a second one-way clutch when the first one-way clutch is oriented opposite to the second one-way clutch.

A compression release engine brake assembly adapted for use with an internal combustion engine, and an exhaust valve ( ) operable to open in a normal exhaust lift event (FIG. ) and in a brake lift event (FIG. ). The engine includes an exhaust valve actuating mechanism ( ) for imparting reciprocal movement to said exhaust valve ( ) in response to rotation of a cam shaft ( ) including a cam profile ( ), a normal lift portion ( ) and a brake lift portion ( ). The assembly includes a lost motion device ( ) moveable between a normal lost motion condition (FIG. ) and an actuated condition (FIG. ) in response to movement of an input member ( ). An energy storage spring ( ) is operable, after being compressed to an energy storage condition (FIG. ) to be able to bias the input member ( ) toward a second position, effecting the actuated condition of the lost motion device ( ). A latching mechanism ( ) is operable to first displace the energy storage spring ( ) to a compressed condition, and then release it just before the cam follower ( ) traverses the brake lift portion ( ), in response to the pivotal movement of the rocker arm assembly ( ) which comprises part of the exhaust valve actuating mechanism.

A center differential (,) including a clutch pack (,), a cam ramp actuator (,) for moving the friction discs (,) toward an engaged position, and a viscous coupling (,) which will have a &ldquo;slip speed&rdquo; representative of the speed difference between the front (,) and rear (,) wheels. There is a one-way clutch (,) disposed between the output (,) of the viscous coupling (,) and the first ramp plate (,) to transmit positive torque when the vehicle is in a forward gear, but negative torque is not transmitted, for example, during braking. An override mechanism (,) is provided, including a plurality of spring biased pins (,), such that, below a predetermined speed of rotation, positive torque can also be transmitted when the vehicle is in reverse gear. The pins (,) are associated with flyweight members (,) so that, above the predetermined speed, the pins are disengaged, and positive torque can be transmitted only in forward gear.

Viscous actuated ball ramp clutch having one-way clutch

A valve deactivator assembly (13) for an internal combustion engine, the assembly including a drive rocker arm (39) receiving cyclical motion from an engine push rod (23), and a driven rocker arm (41) which engages the engine poppet valve (29). The rocker arms are biased by a lost motion spring (49) to a position in which the rocker arms align to define a latching chamber (63), having a moveable latch member (65) disposed therein and biased by a spring (67) toward a latched position (FIG. 1). An electromagnetic actuator assembly (81) is disposed adjacent the rocker arms (39,41) and in response to an input signal (88), exerts a force on an actuation shaft (93) and an actuation beam (97) to move the latch member (65) toward its unlatched position (FIG. 3). The invention provides an effective, compact valve deactivator which can change quickly between the latched and unlatched conditions.

A friction brake assembly for applying a braking torque to a rotating shaft such as a transmission output shaft utilizing a primary ball ramp mechanism having a control ring and activation ring with opposed variable depth grooves and rolling members disposed therebetween to load a friction brake in response to a secondary ball ramp mechanism which creates a braking torque on the control ring to activate the primary ball ramp mechanism in response to the rotation of a control lever. Rolling members disposed in opposed variable depth grooves formed in the control lever and a control plate force the control plate towards a housing extension thereby applying a friction force to a clamp ring where the clamp ring is connected to the control ring of the primary ball ramp mechanism using a flex extension to allow relative axial movement between the clamp ring and the control ring. In this manner, the friction brake assembly of the present invention can function as a vehicle parking brake.

Friction brake device utilizing dual ball ramp devices

A vehicle driveline clutch using a ball ramp actuator supplying a clamping force on a clutch disc in response to an electromagnetic field where the clutch clamping force is maintained and increased with clutch slip using a plurality of one-way clutches acting in a pair of planetary gearsets with a one-way clutch acting on each planet gear and supported on a carrier ring which is frictionally connected to a ball ramp control ring upon energization by a clutch coupling with an electrical coil thereby creating relative rotational motion between the control ring and an actuation ring causing a plurality of rotational elements to travel along identical opposed variable depth ramps thereby creating an axial separation force between the control ring and the actuation ring generating the clamping force on the clutch disc. The clutch coupling includes a cone clutch where the clutch extension portion of the cone clutch has a plurality of drive flanges thereon that engage mating drive channels formed in the control ring to transfer rotational motion from an output element to the control ring through the clutch coupling without misalignment of the cone clutch.

A clutch assembly using a ball ramp actuator supplying a clamping force on a clutch disc in response to an electromagnetic field where the clutch clamping force is maintained and increased with clutch slip using a ball ramp mechanism having a control ring and an actuation ring. A bias spring acting to maintain contact between a clutch member and the coil plate of the control clutch. Activated by a control clutch having a response to electrical current introduced into a coil thereby creating an electromagnetic field in a coil pole which attracts a coil plate which in turn applies a cone clutch thereby introducing a rotational torque on the control ring to activate the ball ramp mechanism. The bias spring is used to force the clutch plate toward the coil pole thereby minimizing the air gap between the clutch plate and coil pole thereby providing a more controllable engagement of the clutch assembly.
