An example of an apparatus including a memory to store a plurality of print profiles and sample page data. The apparatus includes a selection engine to select a first print profile and a second print profile from the plurality of print profiles. The apparatus includes a printing device to generate a first print sample in accordance with the first print profile and to generate a second print sample in accordance with the second print profile. The apparatus includes an input device to receive input to identify a preferred print sample. The apparatus includes a processor coupled to the memory and the input device, wherein the processor is to direct the selection engine to select a third print profile based on the first print profile, the second print profile, and the input to generate a third print sample for comparison with the preferred print sample.

In one example in accordance with the present disclosure system for cleaning a scanning module is described. The system includes a cleaning device to remove debris from a scanning surface of the scanning module and a moving device. The moving device moves the scanning module into a position away from a substrate support surface and extends a cleaning device into a scan path between the scanning surface and the substrate support surface, and rotates to oscillate the cleaning device.

An apparatus can include a frame having a first side and a second side spaced apart from and substantially parallel to the first side by a third side that interconnects and extends longitudinally between the first side and the second side. The third side can define a portion of a media path. A surface of the third side includes a calibration area in the media path, the calibration area extending from an input edge to an exit edge in a media path direction that is substantially transverse to the longitudinal dimension of the third side. A plurality of bars can protrude outwardly from the surface of the third side in the calibration area. Each of the bars extends in the media path direction and has a leading edge and a trailing edge, the leading edge.

A variable reflectance cover for a scanning system. The cover comprises a backing moveable through a plurality of positions. Moving the backing through the plurality of positions varies the reflectance of the cover. In one embodiment, the backing is an endless rotatable belt. In a second embodiment, the backing is a removable panel having a first side with a first reflectance and a second side with a second reflectance. In yet a third embodiment, the backing includes polarizers placed adjacent to a reflective panel. Rotating one polarizer relative to another varies the reflectance of the cover.

Exemplary methods, apparatuses, media, and arrangements enable the implementation of one or more features in electronic devices that have (e.g., display) screens that are capable of light emission and detection. These features include, for example, scanning, (simulated) touch-screen sensitivity, and ambient light determination and compensation. The display screens may be comprised of light emitting/detecting elements, such as diodes, that can emit light for visual display and can detect light for receiving light information data. In certain described implementations, a method for implementing a feature using a display screen with emitting/detecting elements includes the actions of: activating multiple elements of an array of elements to emit light; activating multiple elements of the array of elements to detect light; producing detected light data representing the light detected by the multiple elements that are activated to detect light; and processing the detected light data to implement the feature.

A marking beam of electromagnetic energy is generated within a printing device and a visibly markable portion of a replaceable subsystem that is at least partially arranged within the printing device is altered by illuminating at least part of the markable portion with the marking beam.

A document capture arm connected to an imaging device and positionable over a platen for retaining a document on the platen for imaging. The document capture arm holds one or more documents against the platen in a selected position or arrangement. The document capture arm may be configured as an arm that may insert into a receiver. The document capture arm may be easily installed for use and may be easily removed for storage when not needed. Alternately, the document capture arm may include an actuator that is attached to and extends from the arm, projecting beyond the axis of rotation of the platen cover at the hinge. When the platen cover is lifted to an open position, the capture arm actuator is acted upon by the platen cover, lifting the document capture arm to an open position.

An apparatus and method for opening sealed containers includes, in a container with a removable seal, container packaging, with a removal end and a closed end, conformed to receive and removably retain the container. The seal has a front end and a rear end. A connector connects the seal and the container packaging. In another aspect of the invention, a connector extension is attached to the connector and to the seal.

A toner advisor apparatus and method for imaging systems includes an imaging device with a toner cartridge. More than one toner compartment in the toner cartridge is conformed to hold various toner colors. A cartridge scanner device is connected to the imaging system for scanning the more than one toner compartment. An analysis device is connected to the cartridge scanner device and to the imaging device for comparing the type of color required for a print job on the imaging device and the amounts of toner in the more than one toner compartment and for suggesting colors that optimize toner consumption. In one aspect of the invention, the analysis device is conformed to optimize toner consumption by suggesting colors that use nearly equal amounts of different toner colors over time.

A container for flowable materials includes a first chamber storing flowable material within the container. A second chamber is separated from the first chamber within the container and contains a stirrer. A metering mechanism permits selective transfer of flowable material from the first chamber to the second chamber.

A mobile phone handset has incorporated connectors and/or circuitries to connect to plain ordinary telephone (POT) lines, various computing devices and/or a local area network (LAN). A printer with an imaging components protection architecture includes a main housing and a protective housing that is pivotally coupled to the main housing. The protective housing is formed to receive an intermediate transfer belt (ITB) positioned between the protective housing and a print cartridge that is also positioned within the protective housing.

A method and apparatus for fusing toner to a laser printed page. The apparatus includes a photosensitive drum, a laser optic system for tracing an image on the photosensitive drum, a toner supply electrically charged opposite the image traced on the photosensitive drum, and an ultraviolet light source for imparting energy to the toner to fuse the toner to the page. The apparatus facilitates faster print speeds and lower energy consumption than conventional laser printers that require heating elements to fuse the toner to the page.
