A method, system and computer program product is provided. The method includes identifying a large statement, writing the rows that are changed by the large statement into a set of files outside a database management system recovery log, and writing log records for the set of files to the database management system recovery log, such that the log records provide ordering of row changes made by the large statement. The log records include a log sequence number corresponding to a first row changed and a format and encoding used for the row changes. The method further includes streaming, by the one or more processors of the computer system, the set of files out-of-band by a replication capture process to a target database management system.

Replicating large statements with low latency

Building a database from stored backup data images. In one aspect, an identification of a target image is received, the target image including a copy of a logical storage unit of data from a previous database and description information that describes the previous database. The target image holds a copy of a subset of the data of the previous database. A received list has at least one desired logical storage unit of data from the previous database to be included in a built database. The desired logical storage unit is restored from at least one stored data image to the built database using the description information in the target image. Other aspects include the target image being a database image, and the desired logical storage units of data being a subset of database data.

Method and system for building a database from backup data images

In the field of mixed 16-bit and 32-bit code, a method and mechanism are provided to implement alterations in the dynamic portion of memory containing the data objects used by code in the 16-bit environment so that such data is accessible to code from the 32-bit environment. The code necessary to implement the method is generated automatically by an enhanced compiler on identifying 16-bit linkage in the 32-bit code. Once the data objects in the stack are accesible to the 32-bit code, a function in the 16-bit code can successfully call a function in 32-bit code.
