A signal band width limiter is provided in a telecommunication path that includes a leased unbundled subscriber line. The limiter may be a programmable active filter such as a digital signal processor in which filter characteristics are set under control of a controller at a central office. The controller may acquire the necessary subscriber level information via a data network from a data base at a remote location. Band pass ranges are set to frequencies corresponding to subscribed services. As the subscribed service is changed, replacement by the appropriate passband filter readily can be made. The telecommunication path can be monitored to determine whether an upgrade of service is required. Parameters of subscriber line leased from an ILEC by a CLEC can be tested at the ILEC premises.

Automated system and method for subscriber line service control

A signal band width limiter is provided in a telecommunication path that includes a leased unbundled subscriber line. The limiter may be a low pass frequency filter having a band pass range set to the frequencies corresponding to subscribed services. If only POTS service is offered, the filter has a passband range for passing only telephone service signals in a POTS analog frequency range. For ISDN service, the filter has a passband range for passing only telephone service signals within a frequency range prescribed for ISDN. For higher speed data services, such as HDSL and ADSL, filters with appropriate pass bands, up to complete pass through, are provided in the subscriber communication path. As the subscribed service is changed, replacement by the appropriate passband filter readily can be made.

System and method for subscriber line service control

A digital communications system efficiently transports communications data in ATM format from a plurality of information providers to a plurality of users, maximizing transport of the supply of ATM streams to distribution paths in a network. A video tone dial network arrangement synchronizes the timing among various VIP source multiplexers and super trunk transmitters. ATM streams are transported through an ATM backbone network and a local loop distribution network. A serving node, or host digital terminal, of the local loop distribution network, supplies the bit stream carrying ATM cells for a video program to the user terminal and provides information necessary to permit the terminal to decode the data from the ATM cells carrying the program information.
