An electrical connector includes a housing having pockets formed in a receiving end of the housing. A terminal module is inserted into the pockets wherein the terminal modules are constructed from a stitch plate including a plurality of terminals retained therein, A cover having a plurality of spaced apart walls form thereon is arranged on the stitch plate and is moved into engagement with the stitch plate with the walls disposed in the intervening space between adjacent terminals. The connector assembly is pressed onto a circuit board in which a force is applied to the connector housing and is directly transferred to the terminal tails of the terminal modules causing electrical contact between conductive holes of the circuit board and the terminals.

A lever-type electrical connector assembly is provided that includes first and second electrical connectors having an actuating lever movably mounted thereon for movement between a release position with the connectors un-mated and a lock position with the connectors mated. In one form, a blocking member is provided between the first connector and the actuating lever for holding the actuating lever in the release position. A second connector includes a release member for shifting the blocking member to allow the actuating lever to move from the release position to the lock position. In another form, the electrical connector assembly is configured to precisely maximize the mechanical advantage provided by the actuating lever by including a predetermined force transmitting engagement portion at which the lever actuator engages one of the connectors to transmit a concentrated, predetermined leveraged output force thereto upon pivoting of the lever from the release to the lock position.

Lever type electrical connector

A electrical connector includes a dielectric housing member for mounting a plurality of terminals. A cover member is engaged with the housing member and combines therewith to define an interior cavity for receiving thereinto a plurality of electrical wires for termination to the terminals. Latches are interengaged between the dielectric housing member and the cover member to hold the members together. The latches include an elongated flexible latch arm projecting from one of the members through the interior cavity into locking engagement with the other member. An open-sided protective silo projects from the one member into the interior cavity alongside the elongated latch arm. The arm is flexible into and out of the open side of the silo. Therefore, the silo protects the elongated flexible latch arm and prevents over-flexing thereof.

Electrical connector with improved latch means

A lever type electrical connector assembly includes a first connector having a housing with opposite sides. A single actuating lever is pivotally mounted on the housing intermediate the opposite sides thereof for pivotal movement about an axis extending in a direction between the opposite sides of the housing. The actuating lever includes a cam groove. A second connector mates with the first connector and has a cam follower projection to be engaged in the cam groove of the single actuating lever, whereby the connectors are mated and unmated in response to rotation of the actuating lever.
