The present disclosure relates to a nano-engineered coating for cathode active materials, anode active materials, and solid state electrolyte materials for reducing corrosion and enhancing cycle life of a battery, and processes for applying the disclosed coating. Also disclosed is a solid state battery including a solid electrolyte layer having a solid electrolyte particle coated by a protective coating with a thickness of 100 nm or less. The protective coating is obtained by atomic layer deposition (ALD) or molecular layer deposition (MLD). Further disclosed is a solid electrolyte layer for a solid state battery, including a porous scaffold coated by a first, solid electrolyte coating. The solid electrolyte coating has a thickness of 60 μm or less and a weight loading of at least 20 wt. % (or preferable at least 40 wt. % or at least 50 wt. %). Further disclosed is a cathode composite layer for a solid state battery.

An apparatus comprises a processing device configured to identify a snapshot lineage comprising snapshots of a storage volume and to maintain, for the snapshot lineage, a multi-level tree structure comprising (i) a first level comprising a primary volume object representing the storage volume and snapshot volume objects representing the snapshots of the storage volume and (ii) additional levels comprising data objects, where the primary and snapshot volume objects comprise pointers to the data objects, the data objects comprising data of the storage volume and snapshots. The processing device is also configured to determine storage capacity usage by the snapshot lineage based on a collective size of the data objects pointed to by the primary and snapshot volume objects, to store the determined storage capacity usage as metadata associated with the primary volume object, and to dynamically update the metadata responsive to changes in the snapshot lineage.

A cloud storage gateway is used to migrate a volume from a source cloud storage provider to a target cloud storage provider. If necessary, the gateway reconfigures the size of a logical cache associated with local storage devices so that the entire volume can be stored locally. Flushing is disabled and all of the locally stored volume pages are marked as dirty. After compression and encryption policies associated with the source and target are verified to be compatible, flushing is enabled and metadata is updated.

A cartridge microreactor includes a tubular heater, a metal capillary reaction tubing and a brazing alloy. The tubular heater includes an inner tube surrounded by an outer heater sheath. The metal capillary reaction tubing has a high aspect ratio, an inlet port and an outlet port and is wrapped around the tubular heater so that it is in intimate thermal contact with the heater sheath. The brazing alloy permanently bonds the tubular heater with the metal capillary reaction tubing. The metal capillary reaction tubing is configured to be heated by the tubular heater and is configured to receive one or more reactants through the inlet port and to allow the reactants to react under a selected temperature and pressure and to produce one or more products exiting through the outlet port.
