A calibration system for an image plate used to detect high-energy particles produced by a radioisotope includes a casing and an image plate holder disposed at least partially inside the casing. The image plate is retained by the image plate holder inside the casing. A calibration source generates energy inside the casing to prepare the image plate for detection.

Thermal cycling devices are provided. In one embodiment, a thermal cycling device includes a packed tube comprising an inlet portion defining an inlet and an outlet portion defining an outlet. The packed tube is provided in a double coil arrangement, wherein the double coil arrangement causes radially neighboring turns of the packed tube to have opposing flow directions therethrough. The thermal cycling device further includes a cooling device disposed axially adjacent to the packed tube, and a heating device disposed axially adjacent to the packed tube opposite the cooling device.

Spectrophotometers and spectroscopy processes are described that can provide for in-line calibration at every spectral acquisition as well as for continuous response correction during sample processing. The spectrophotometers include multiple polychromatic light sources that include characteristic emission spectra for use as an internal wavelength drift calibration system that is independent of environmental factors. Correction functions provided by the internal calibration process can be applied continuously and across an entire sample spectrum. The intensity response of each spectrometer in a spectrophotometer can also be monitored and continuously corrected for stray light, dark current, readout noise, etc.

High accuracy absorbance spectrophotometers

A radiation imaging system includes a casing and a camera disposed inside the casing. A first field of view through the casing exposes the camera to light from outside of the casing. An image plate is disposed inside the casing, and a second field of view through the casing to the image plate exposes the image plate to high-energy particles produced by a radioisotope outside of the casing. An optical reflector that is substantially transparent to the high-energy particles produced by the radioisotope is disposed with respect to the camera and the image plate to reflect light to the camera and to allow the high-energy particles produced by the radioisotope to pass through the optical reflector to the image plate.

Radiation imaging system

A sampling system controller includes a control unit for interfacing with a collection chamber module having a plurality of sampling chambers. The control unit controls the times at which the sampling chambers acquire samples of a fluid flow and control flow rates into the sampling chambers. The timing of the sampling chambers and the flow rates may be programmed by a user and downloaded into the control unit through an interface. The control unit measures the flow rate of the fluid flow to be sampled and controls the flow rate through each sampling chambers in order to achieve a desired and known rate through the sampling chambers. The flow rates through the fluid flow and through the sampling chambers are recorded on a data module. The control unit may be equipped with a portable weather station for monitoring weather conditions and with a global positioning system for determining a geographic position of the sampling chambers. The weather and location information may be recorded on the data module. The flow rates through the sampling chambers are controlled by a flow assembly that is easily removed and replaced. The flow assembly has a set of jumpers which specify the flow range of the assembly and which is read by the control unit. A hand-held service module is used to program the sampling system. The service module has a keypad for receiving inputs from a user and has a switch for toggling between an RS232 output or an RS485 output.
