Embodiments of an Evolved Node-B (eNB), Private Spectrum Access System (SAS) controller, and methods for communication in shared spectrum are generally described herein. In some cases, primary usage of the shared spectrum by incumbent devices may be prioritized over secondary usage of the shared spectrum. The eNB may receive, from the Private SAS controller, a configuration message that allocates, to the eNB, a first channel included in the shared spectrum for secondary usage by the eNB. The eNB may further receive, from the Private SAS controller, a request that the eNB determine an interference measurement and may send the interference measurement to the Private SAS controller. The measurement may be based on an output transmit power used for transmission by the eNB in the shared spectrum.

A system and method are provided for implementing a cloud based spectrum management scheme that enables Dynamic Spectrum Access (DSA) through rentals of available spectrum in a two-level analytics process for optimization. Primary spectrum holders as exclusive licensees of underused spectrum communicate with a global spectrum broker to place portions of their underused spectrum into an auction-based rental market on the condition that they can regain control of their spectrum when a need arises. Local spectrum brokers communicate with the global spectrum broker to bid for available spectrum to meet their temporary needs in time and place. The local spectrum brokers, in turn, administer local optimization schemes over their portion of the global region to ensure that an expected level of quality of service is provided to individual customers with whom the local spectrum brokers communicate. The disclosed brokering scheme, properly administered, provides an incremental step-wise approach to solving long-term spectrum shortage for wireless communications.

This table is then partitioned into multiple codebook. Then, the codebook is assigned to a user. The pseudo-noise code contained within the codebooks are used to spread information signal. Information signal for a first user is spread by a pseudo-noise code contained within the codebook assigned to the first user. Multiple bits of information signal may be sent at a time by using the location of the pseudo-noise code within the codebook such that the value of the information signal corresponds the location of the pseudo-noise code within the codebook. The information signal is then despread by using the same pseudo-noise code.

A code controller partitions a set of orthogonal spreading codes into a plurality of subsets of orthogonal spreading codes and allocates and transmits the subsets of orthogonal spreading codes to users. A transmitter device partitions the received subset of orthogonal spreading codes into partitioned sets. The partitioned sets are further expanded to include complement codes of the orthogonal spreading codes and the codes are mapped into a code index to create a spreading code set. A window of contiguous multi-bit input data to be transmitted by the transmitter device is partitioned into equal-size subsets, which are then mapped to a data index, to create a data set. The data set is mapped to the spreading code set to create a multiplex of spreading codes, and the multiplex of spreading codes are then summed to form a code multiplex. The code multiplex can then be sent in one transmit opportunity.

Dynamically-scalable system and method for multiple user access utilzing multi-bit and multi-code orthogonal multiplexing

The invention relates to zero-overhead, sequence reversible, and pattern independent orthogonal multiplexing to achieve high bit densities in direct sequence spread spectrum communication systems. A set of orthogonal spreading codes is selected. The orthogonal spreading codes are partitioned into partitioned sets. The partitioned sets are further expanded to include complement codes of the orthogonal spreading codes. The orthogonal spreading codes and the complement codes are mapped into a code index to create a spreading code set. A window of contiguous input data is partitioned into equal-size subsets, which are then mapped to a data index, to create a data set. The data set is mapped to the spreading code set to create a multiplex of spreading codes, and the multiplex of spreading codes are then summed to form a code multiplex. The code multiplex can then be sent in one transmit opportunity.

Zero-overhead method for sequence reversible and pattern independent orthogonal multiplexing

A method for achieving high bit densities in a direct-sequence spread spectrum communication system by using encoded spreading codes. An encoded pseudo-noise code is first created. This encoded pseudo-noise code is then used to spread an information signal by modulating the information signal with the encoded pseudo-noise code. The same encoded pseudo-noise code is also used to demodulate the signal. The encoded pseudo-noise code is created by inverting one bit of a pseudo-noise code where the inverted bit corresponds to the value of the information signal.
