A prolapse prevention device formed by a continuous wire-like structure having a first end and a second end disconnected from each other. The continuous wire-like structure is substantially straight in a delivery configuration. The prolapse prevention device in a deployed configuration includes a centering ring of the continuous wire-like structure configured to seat adjacent to and upstream of an annulus of a heart valve in situ, a vertical support of the continuous wire-like structure which extends from the centering ring and includes an apex configured to seat against a roof of an atrium in situ, and a leaflet backstop of the continuous wire-like structure extending radially inward from the centering ring and configured to contact at least at least a first leaflet of the heart valve in situ to exert a pressure in a downstream direction on the first leaflet to prevent the first leaflet from prolapsing into the atrium.

Prolapse prevention device and methods of use thereof

A cartridge assembly for a surgical stapling system includes a cartridge, a sled assembly, a drive beam, and a knife. The sled assembly is configured to drive fasteners through the cartridge. The drive beam defines a cam slot and is positioned to drive the sled assembly along the cartridge. The knife is supported by the sled assembly and has a blade and a guide pin that extends from the knife. The guide pin is configured to cam along the cam slot of the drive beam to facilitate pivoting movement of the knife relative to the sled assembly and to enable the blade to move relative to the cartridge for selectively cutting tissue.

Apparatus for endoscopic procedures

A surgical device includes a jaw assembly, an articulating assembly and a drive shaft. The jaw assembly includes first and second jaws. The articulating assembly is removably coupled to a proximal end of the jaw assembly and includes a distal joint member, a proximal joint member, and a pivot pin. The pivot pin is fixedly coupled to the distal joint member and is rotatably coupled to the proximal joint member. The jaw assembly and the distal joint member together define a first longitudinal axis. The proximal joint member defines a second longitudinal axis. The drive shaft includes a gear element that is meshingly engaged with a pivoting gear element that is fixedly coupled to the pivot pin. Longitudinal movement of the first drive shaft pivots the jaw assembly relative to the proximal joint member about a pivot axis defined by the pivot pin.

A proximal portion of the elongate body includes a first arm extending proximally from a distal portion of the elongate body and a locking tab extending laterally into the channel of the elongate body.

A surgical stapling device includes a tool assembly having an anvil and a cartridge assembly that are movable in relation to each other between open and clamped positions. The cartridge assembly includes a staple cartridge that can be replaced after each firing of the stapling device to facilitate reuse of the stapling device. The anvil includes a lockout mechanism that prevents operation of the stapling device when the staple cartridge has been previously fired. The lockout mechanism moves from a locked position to an unlocked position in response to movement of the tool assembly from the open position to the clamped position.

A surgical stapling device includes a tool assembly including an anvil and a cartridge assembly that are movable in relation to each other between open and clamped positions. A transverse surgical stapling system includes an elongated shaft assembly, a distal tube, an anvil assembly, and a cartridge assembly. The distal tube has a proximal end portion and a distal end portion. The proximal end portion of the distal tube supports the elongated shaft assembly. The anvil assembly is supported on the distal end portion of the distal tube. The cartridge assembly is supported on the distal tube in movable relation to the anvil assembly. The anvil and cartridge assemblies are movable between retracted and extended positions relative to the distal tube.

Laparoscopic transverse surgical stapling system

A surgical stapling instrument includes an end effector, an adapter assembly, and a rotation lockout assembly. The end effector includes a staple cartridge assembly and an anvil assembly that are coupled to a proximal housing and movably positioned relative to one another. The staple cartridge assembly has a drive beam and a sled. The sled carries a knife that is rotatably supported on the sled. The drive beam is configured to move the knife relative to the drive beam. The adapter assembly has an elongated shaft that extends distally to an articulating assembly. The articulating assembly includes distal and proximal joint members coupled by a pin to articulate the end effector. The rotation lockout assembly prevents rotation of the end effector during a firing of the surgical stapling instrument.

A surgical instrument for surgically joining a tissue includes a handle assembly, an elongate portion extending distally from the handle assembly, a pair of opposed jaw members, and a tissue stop. The tissue stop is mechanically engaged with a first jaw member and is configured to retain the tissue between the jaw members. The tissue stop is movable between a first position, where a stopping portion of the tissue stop is disposed between a tissue-contacting surface of the first jaw member and a tissue-contacting surface of the second jaw member, and a second position, where the stopping portion is between the tissue-contacting surface of the first jaw member and a lower surface of the first jaw member. A portion of the tissue stop is made of stamped metal section and a portion of the tissue stop is made of an overmolded plastic section.

A surgical stapling system includes a hand-held instrument, an adapter assembly, a pair of stapling reloads having end effectors, and a drive mechanism. The drive mechanism is longitudinally movable through one of the end effectors to fire staples therefrom. The drive mechanism extends through a support block positioned to move across a mounting member of the adapter assembly as the mounting member articulates the end effectors.
