A pill packet dosage tracking and gating device is provided. The device includes a container, a gate, and a controller. The container includes a reservoir configured to hold a stream of pill packets and an extraction channel configured to guide the passage of the stream of pill packets from the reservoir out of the container. The gate is disposed in the extraction channel and is configured to vertically transition from a closed position blocking extraction of a pill packet of the stream of pill packets and an open position allowing extraction of a pill packet. The controller is configured to monitor the extraction of pill packets and control the transition of the gate from the closed position to the open position.

The plurality of sensors are configured to detect a change in each dose container of the plurality of dose containers. The medication storage device also includes an imaging system. The imaging system includes a plurality of image capture devices configured to capture an image of the interior region of each dose container of the plurality of dose containers. A communications module is configured to send an indication of the change detected by the event detection system and/or an image captured by the imaging device to a remote device.

Systems and methods for identifying, tracking, tracing and determining the authenticity of a good are described herein. In some embodiments, a system includes an imaging system, a database, and an authentication center. The imaging system is configured to capture an image of a unique signature associated with a good at the good's origin. The unique signature can be, for example, a random structure or pattern unique to the particular good. The imaging system is configured to process the image of the good to identify at least one metric that distinguishes the unique signature from unique signatures of other goods. The database is configured to receive information related to the good and its unique signature from the imaging system; and is configured to store the information therein. The authentication center is configured to analyze the field image with respect to the information stored in the database to determine whether the unique signature in the field image is a match to the captured image stored in the database.

Methods and compositions are provided for preventing or reversing loss of the therapeutic effect of a drug, where the loss is associated with the repeated administration of the drug to a patient. The method includes administering to the patient a dopamine receptor agonist or partial agonist or a drug that increases the extracellular level of dopamine by enhancing release of dopamine, decreasing the removal of dopamine from the extracellular space, enhancing the synthesis of dopamine within the brain, or decreasing metabolic degradation of dopamine; and also administering to the patient an opioid receptor antagonist in an ultra-low dose amount, wherein the ultra-low dose amount is effective to prevent or reverse loss of therapeutic effects associated with the repeated administration of the drug to the patient. A combination of a pro-agonist first medication in timed release form, and a sequestered second non-antagonist medication allows the first medication to be effective if taken according to medical directions. If the combination is tampered with or otherwise taken in a manner not according to medical directions, the second medication is released and prevents the first medication from becoming effective. The non-antagonist second medication does not precipitate immediate withdrawal in a dependent patient.
