A method of forming a boron nitride. The method comprises contacting a metal article with a monomeric boron-nitrogen compound and converting the monomeric boron-nitrogen compound to a boron nitride. The boron nitride is formed on the same or a different metal article. The monomeric boron-nitrogen compound is borazine, cycloborazane, trimethylcycloborazane, polyborazylene, B-vinylborazine, poly(B-vinylborazine), or combinations thereof. The monomeric boron-nitrogen compound is polymerized to form the boron nitride by exposure to a temperature greater than approximately 100&#xb0; C. The boron nitride is amorphous boron nitride, hexagonal boron nitride, rhombohedral boron nitride, turbostratic boron nitride, wurzite boron nitride, combinations thereof, or boron nitride and carbon. A method of conditioning a ballistic weapon and a metal article coated with the monomeric boron-nitrogen compound are also disclosed.

Methods of forming boron nitride

One embodiment of sighting optics according to the teachings provided herein may include a front sight and a rear sight positioned in spaced-apart relation. The rear sight includes an optical element having a first focal length and a second focal length. The first focal length is selected so that it is about equal to a distance separating the optical element and the front sight and the second focal length is selected so that it is about equal to a target distance. The optical element thus brings into simultaneous focus, for a user, images of the front sight and the target.

A firearm trigger assembly for use with a firearm includes a trigger mounted to a forestock of the firearm so that the trigger is movable between a rest position and a triggering position by a forwardly placed support hand of a user. An elongated trigger member operatively associated with the trigger operates a sear assembly of the firearm when the trigger is moved to the triggering position. An action release assembly operatively associated with the firearm trigger assembly and a movable assembly of the firearm prevents the trigger from being moved to the triggering position when the movable assembly is not in the locked position.

A firearm frame which is adapted to be disposed in operative relationship as a component part of a firearm, the firearm having disposed in operative relationships each with one or more of the others, a barrel, a receiver, and at least one firing mechanism; wherein the barrel and receiver form operative parts of a movable assembly and the at least one firing mechanism is disposed in a substantially stationary operative relationship therewith; the firearm frame including at least one elongated support structure discrete from the barrel and receiver, the elongated support structure being adapted to directly support the movable assembly in an operative movable relationship therewith; whereby at least one of the barrel and receiver is in direct contact with and movable on the elongated support structure; and, a firing mechanism support structure connected to the at least one elongated support structure, the firing mechanism support structure being adapted to have the firing mechanism connected thereto; the firearm frame also directly supporting the movable assembly and the firing mechanism in corresponding movable and stationary operative relationships each with the other.

A forwardly movable assembly for a firearm, the forwardly movable assembly adapted to be disposed in operative relationship relative to the other operative parts of a firearm, the firearm having in operative relationship each with one or more of the others: a barrel, a receiver, and at least one firing mechanism; the forwardly movable assembly comprising: the barrel and the receiver operatively connected with each other; a movable hand support structure to which at least one of the barrel and the receiver is connected, the barrel being movable therewith, the movable hand support structure being adapted to be gripped by an operator of the firearm; the forwardly movable assembly being adapted to be moved forward by an operator upon gripping the movable hand support structure and manually maneuvering the hand support structure forwardly; and, as the forwardly movable assembly is moved forwardly, the firing mechanism is completely disengaged therefrom and held substantially stationary relative thereto.

Forwardly movable assembly for a firearm

The gun barrel stabilizer system of the present invention increases or optimizes the accuracy of guns including small arms and artillery. The invention consists of a device called a gun barrel stabilizer rigidly attached at the gun muzzle, and extending toward the gun breech, without further contact with the gun barrel or other gun components. The device responds to the same forces which cause recoil motion and, by virtue of its cantilever nature, resists angular deflection of the gun muzzle during firing. The stabilizer system, in an optimized state, serves to maintain the final segment of the gun barrel at the muzzle moving though a locus of parallel positions up to the time of projectile release. In the absence of angular deflection at the muzzle, gun accuracy is increased to a maximum allowed by the remaining limitations of cartridge performance and barrel bore quality. Preferred embodiments provide for the combination of the device with gun sights, muzzle brakes, compensators, counterweights, bayonet lugs, and/or flash suppressors including accommodation for the added mass resulting from the combination. Preferred embodiments additionally provide for various modes of attachment of the invention to gun barrels.

Gun barrel stabilizer

Prior art slings used to support rifles during aiming and firing respond to the blood pressure pulse in the shooter's upper am resulting in rhythmic stress in the straps which extend to connect with the rifle. This is caused by the position and singular nature of the prior an attachment between that portion of the sling surrounding the shooter's upper arm and that portion of the sling which extends to the rifle. This interaction between the prior an slings and the shooter's pulse results in movement of the rifle and a reduction in practical accuracy. Slings of the present invention incorporate two attachments to that portion of the sling system which surrounds the shooter's arm and two non parallel straps extending to the rifle. By virtue of the location of these two attachments, the shooter's pulse can no longer create rhythmic stress in the straps extending to the rifle. Motion of the rifle during aiming and firing is reduced and practical accuracy is increased.

No-pulse rifle sling

An adapter for a single-stage trigger weapon which converts the trigger system from a single-stage trigger with a constant trigger pull force to a two-stage trigger pull system, wherein the required second-stage pull force is perceptibly greater than the required first-stage pull force. The increase in the trigger pull force occurs immediately prior to hammer release and provides the shooter with an indication of imminent weapon discharge. The adapter pivots about a fulcrum between the first and second stages.
