Disclosed is a material testing system that includes a fixture, a frame, a load sensor, a displacement sensor and a computer system coupled to the material testing system. The computer system includes one or more processors, one or more memory devices coupled to the one or more processors, one or more computer readable storage devices coupled to the one or more processors, wherein the one or more storage devices contain program code executable by the one or more processors via the one or more memory devices to implement a method for detecting a change in a material testing sequence. A computer program product that implements a method for detecting a change in a material test sequence, and methods for detecting a change in a material test sequence or fatigue test is further disclosed.

Change detection in material testing

Described are systems and methods for fixture identification in test systems. A method for fixture identification in a test system may include capturing image data representative of a first fixture of the test system with an imaging device. The method may further include transmitting the image data representative of the first fixture from the imaging device to a processor running an image recognition application. The method may also include identifying the first fixture based on the image data with the processor running the image recognition application.

A linear motor including a stator assembly, an armature mechanically coupleable to a test specimen configured to be moved relative to the stator assembly by operation of the linear motor, and a suspension system configured facilitate movement of the armature relative to the stator assembly along an axis of movement without physically touching the armature during movement. Further disclosed is a multi-phase linear motor, a linear motor having an armature with an array of flat magnets, and a linear motor having a magnetic damping system.

Disclosed is a material testing system that includes an output shaft configured to be moved by operation of a motor, the output shaft coupleable to a test specimen such that movement of the output shaft imparts a mechanical force on the test specimen. The material testing system includes a haptic feedback system configured to provide an operator of the material testing system haptic feedback related to a position or state of the output shaft relative to the test specimen during setup. Methods of testing using haptic feedback are also disclosed.

Haptic feedback for configuring materials testing systems

An error compensation system and method may include applying a mechanical load to a reference sample to obtain a load measurement signal from the load sensor and a displacement measurement signal from the displacement sensor, calculating a transfer function to create a load filter and a displacement filter to be applied to the load measurement signal and the displacement measurement signal, respectively, applying the load filter to the load measurement signal to calculate a load compensation value, and applying the displacement filter to the displacement measurement signal to calculate a displacement compensation value, and determining the compensated value by comparing the load compensation value with the displacement compensation value, wherein the compensated value is determined prior to testing a specimen so that the compensated value is used to automatically correct a measured deflection of the specimen to arrive at an actual specimen deflection.

Automatic system compliance estimation and correction for mechanical testing systems

Systems, methods, and devices are provided for testing a drug eluting prosthesis. A drug eluting prosthesis is placed within a conduit that is coupled at one end to a first conduit frame and at a second end to a second conduit frame. The first conduit frame is coupled to the second conduit frame using a movable shaft, such that the first conduit frame and the second conduit frame can move relative to each other. When the first conduit frame and the second conduit frame are moved relative to each other, they expose the conduit and the drug eluting prosthesis to compressive or tensile forces. While the drug eluting prosthesis is being exposed to compressive or tensile forces, a fluid flow is provided through the conduit to test the particle shed rate of the drug eluting prosthesis.

Apparatus for testing a prosthesis

A chamber assembly for testing a valve includes a proximal chamber portion that defines a proximal interior space, and a distal chamber portion that defines a distal interior space. The distal interior space includes a gas space. When a liquid is inserted into the proximal and distal chambers there is an interface between the liquid and a gas in the gas space. A valve holder is disposed adjacent to the proximal interior space and the distal interior space. The valve holder is configured to receive the valve in a bore of the valve holder. A shortest distance between a center of the valve when in the bore and the interface is at least about 45 mm.

In a mechanical test system, a method of compensating for acceleration induced load error in a load sensor in a mechanical communication with a component comprises measuring an acceleration of the component to obtain an acceleration measurement. A load sensor measures a force applied by the mechanical test system to a test sample in substantially a same direction of the acceleration to obtain a force measurement. The force measurement is modified with a transfer function that includes at least one of a gain correction and a phase correction to compensate for an error value in the force measurement attributed to movement of at least the load sensor when the force is applied to the test sample.

Acceleration compensation of load sensors

A bioreactor system includes a sample chamber capable of receiving a specimen and a cover which can be placed on the chamber to enclose the specimen within the chamber. A first member is movable between (i) a closed position in which the member restricts the cover from being moved away from the chamber in a first direction, and (ii) an open position in which the member does not restrict the cover from being moved away from the chamber. When the first member is in the closed position there is a substantially liquid proof seal between the cover and the chamber.

Bioreactor chamber

A sample testing system includes a plurality of sample tubes, each sample tube coupled to a pumping chamber, a pressure control subsystem and a flow control subsystem. The pressure control system includes a first dynamic pump equipped to induce pulsatile pressure in a mass of pumping fluid coupled to the pumping chambers. The flow control subsystem includes a mean flow pump equipped to generate a flow of sample fluid in a plurality of flow loops. Each of the flow loops conducts the flow of sample fluid between the mean flow pump and one of the sample tubes. The pumping chamber couples pressure from the pumping fluid to the sample fluid.

Multiple-specimen device testing with particle measurement

A multi-axis fatigue testing device includes a multi-axis test fixture having a multiple input, multiple output mechanical linkage driven by a plurality of actuators and a controller operating each of the plurality of actuators in real time and in synchronization to produce user-defined multiple fatigue cycle profiles. At least one of the actuators driving the mechanical linkage acts against an artificial load characterized by a stiffness. The stiffness is selected to increase a resonance frequency of the test fixture to allow fatigue testing at higher frequencies for a wider range of samples.
