A charging system includes a service vehicle and a controller. The service vehicle includes a chassis, a series of tractive elements coupled to the chassis, an energy storage device, and a charging interface operatively coupled to the energy storage device. The controller is configured to identify a location of a vehicle, control the service vehicle to navigate to the location of the vehicle, and control the service vehicle to transfer energy from the energy storage device to the vehicle through the charging interface.

A battery pack for a lift device includes a housing, battery cells, a resistor, a conductive element, and a member. The resistor is electrically coupled with a positive terminal of the battery cells. The conductive element is configured to transition between an open state in which a discharge path is not defined between the positive terminal of the battery cells and a negative terminal or a ground, and a closed state in which the discharge path is defined. The member is disposed at the opening and accessible from an exterior of the housing. The member is manually transitionable by a technician between a first state in which the conductive element is in the open state, and a second state in which the conductive element is driven into the closed state such that the battery cells discharge remaining electrical energy via the discharge path.

Lift device with internally depletable battery

A fully-electric lift device includes a base; a retractable lift mechanism, a work platform, an electric linear actuator configured to selectively move the retractable lift mechanism between an extended position and a retracted position, and a controller. The linear actuator includes an electric motor. The controller is in communication with the electric motor and configured to receive a lift command, monitor a required torque for the electric motor based on the lift command, and selectively inhibit the lift command based on the required torque.

Actuator failure detection and scissor lift loadsensing systems and methods

A fully electric lift device includes a base assembly, a lift assembly, a platform assembly, tractive elements, an energy storage device, and a control system. The lift assembly is coupled with the base assembly and is driven by an electric linear actuator for a lifting function. The platform assembly is positioned at a top of the lift assembly and can be raised or lowered as the lift assembly performs the lifting function. The tractive elements are rotatably coupled with the base assembly and can be driven by an electric wheel motor to perform a driving function. The control system includes a controller that operates the electric wheel motor and the electric linear actuator to perform the driving function and the lifting function using power drawn from the energy storage device. The lift assembly and the tractive elements use only electrical energy to perform the lifting and driving functions.

Electric boom

A wireless charging system includes a platform having a substantially horizontal upper surface configured to support a vehicle and an induction coil coupled to the platform. The induction coil is configured to receive electrical energy from an energy source and generate a magnetic field above the upper surface, the magnetic field being positioned to wirelessly transfer the electrical energy to the vehicle while the vehicle is positioned atop the platform.

Wireless charging system

A rechargeable battery system for a lift device includes a battery configured to power at least one component of the lift device, a heating system configured to selectively provide heat to the battery, and a battery charger connected to the battery and to the heating system. The heating system is configured to selectively receive power from the battery through a battery power connection or from the battery charger through a battery charger power connection.

Battery management systems and methods

A lift device comprises a base, a linear actuator, and a rechargeable battery system. The linear actuator is configured to selectively move a work platform between a raised position and a lowered position. The linear actuator includes an electric motor. The rechargeable battery system includes a battery, a heating system, and a battery charger. The battery is configured to power the electric motor of the linear actuator. The battery charger is configured to simultaneously charge the battery and provide power the heating system to heat the battery.

A lift device includes a base assembly, a turntable assembly, and a controller. The base assembly includes multiple base assembly batteries. The turntable assembly is rotatably coupled with the base assembly through a slip ring transmission. The turntable assembly includes multiple turntable assembly batteries. The controller is configured to operate the base assembly batteries to discharge electrical energy to the turntable batteries through the slip ring transmission. The slip ring transmission is configured to both (1) drive the turntable assembly to rotate relative to the base assembly and (2) to electrically and communicably couple electrical components of the base assembly with electrical components of the turntable assembly.

Lift device with split battery pack

A lift device comprises a base, a retractable lift mechanism, a work platform, a linear actuator, and a lift controller. The retractable lift mechanism has a first end coupled to the base and is moveable between an extended position and a retracted position. The work platform is coupled to and supported by a second end of the retractable lift mechanism. The linear actuator is configured to selectively move the retractable lift mechanism between the extended position and the retracted position. The linear actuator comprises a central screw rod, an electric motor configured to provide rotational actuation to the central screw rod, and a nut assembly configured to translate the rotational actuation of the central screw rod into linear motion. The lift controller is configured to receive a lift command from an operator, monitor at least one lift characteristic associated with the linear actuator, and selectively inhibit the lift command.

A lift device comprises a base, a linear actuator, and a rechargeable battery system. The base has a plurality of wheels. The linear actuator is configured to selectively move a work platform configured to support a load between a raised position and a lowered position. The linear actuator has an electric motor. The rechargeable battery system includes a battery, a heating system, and a battery charger. The battery is configured to power the electric motor of the linear actuator. The heating system is configured to selectively provide heat to the battery. The battery charger is configured to selectively charge the battery and to selectively charge the heating system. The heating system is configured to receive power from the battery through a battery power connection and to receive power from the battery charger through a battery charger power connection.

A lift device comprises a base, a retractable lift mechanism, a work platform, a linear actuator, and a lift controller. The base has a plurality of wheels. The retractable lift mechanism has a first end coupled to the base and is moveable between an extended position and a retracted position. The work platform is configured to support a load. The work platform is coupled to and supported by a second end of the retractable lift mechanism. The linear actuator is configured to selectively move the retractable lift mechanism between the extended position and the retracted position. The lift controller is configured to monitor at least one lift characteristic associated with the linear actuator and to determine whether an actuator failure has been detected based on the at least one lift characteristic associated with the linear actuator.

A lift device includes a base, a retractable lift mechanism, a work platform, and a lift controller. The retractable lift mechanism is moveable between an extended position and a retracted position. The work platform is configured to support a load and is coupled to and supported by the retractable lift mechanism. The linear actuator is configured to selectively move the retractable lift mechanism between the extended position and the retracted position. The linear actuator has an electric motor and an electromagnetic brake. The lift controller is in communication with the linear actuator and is configured to determine the load supported by the work platform based on the actuator force applied to the work platform and the height of the work platform.
