A stator () is provided, comprising a lamination stack () having a plurality of segments () being connected to each other by means of respective folding joints (), wherein at least one folding joint () is arranged radially inwards of a virtual circumference () corresponding to the maximum radius (R2) of the lamination stack (). The stator () further comprises a plurality of insulators (), wherein at least one insulator () comprises an end part () extending axially out from the lamination stack (), and wherein a radial space is provided between the outer circumference of the end part () and the outer periphery of the laminator stack ().
