System for determining relative positions and/or relative motions between objects (). Disclosed systems include a target tracking device () on a first object () and an optical target on a second object (). The target tracking device comprises a camera to take images of the optical targets which is configured to track the optical target. The system comprises an onshore crane (), a ship system (), an aviation system () or an offshore crane (). A controller () controls the crane, a ship () or a helicopter () using the data from the tracking device.

System and methods for determining relative position and relative motion of objects

Aspects of the disclosure include apparatus for and methods of facilitating transfer of objects using a crane. Disclosed apparatuses include a target tracking device mounted on or near a crane at a first location, and a target located near a landing location for the object. The target tracking device and the target facilitate real time determination of relative motion between the two locations. Methods of using the same are also disclosed.

Offshore ship-to-ship lifting with target tracking assistance

An arrangement that brings all of the separate elements of equipment used to lay product offshore such as pipe, umbilicals, and power cables and assembles them into a single device that can be installed on a vessel of opportunity, and includes functional improvements of each. A base is used for mounting, integration, and installation of the separate elements onto a vessel. The base receives a movable lay chute, means for moving and stabilizing the lay chute, a movable hang off clamp and work table, a movable access platform, a product support arm and wheel, and a fixed chute.
