The present disclosure is directed to a system for displaying and designing one or more colors on digital display devices, non-digital display media, or a combination thereof. The system can comprise one or more comparative colors, background colors, or a combination thereof for improved color visual comparison. The system can be used for comparing and selecting colors, such as for use in fashion color designs, automotive color designs, architecture color designs, appliance color designs, or a combination thereof. This disclosure is further directed to a kit and a method for displaying and producing one or more colors.

Process for displaying and designing colors

Methods and systems for coating measurements are provided. A system for obtaining characteristics of a target coating layer include a clearcoat layer having a first surface and a second surface. A removable front support layer has an upper surface and a lower surface, where the lower surface is affixed over at least a portion of the second surface of the clearcoat layer. A back support layer has an inner surface and an outer surface, and at least a portion of the inner surface includes an adhesive layer. A separation layer is affixed over at least a portion of the adhesive layer, and the separation layer is removable from the adhesive layer.

Systems and methods for coating measurement

The present invention is directed to a method for obtaining characteristics of a target coating layer. Specifically, a clearcoat layer is provided over a target coating layer for measuring color and appearance characteristics of the target coating. The clearcoat layer can comprise materials from renewable resources. The present invention is also directed to a system for obtaining characteristics of the target coating layer.

Method for coating measurement

The present invention is directed to a method and device that use spectral measurements of the color of a target coating on a substrate, such as auto body being matched. The method utilizes pigment mixture models to produce a matched coating composition that when applied as a coating matches in appearance with that of the target coating, while also providing other desired coating properties, such as durability, gloss and adhesion. The method of the present invention is well suited for producing automotive refinish paints used in automotive refinish applications wherein the undamaged portion of the autobody is color matched to produce a matched refinish paint that can be then applied over a repaired portion of autobody.

Method of producing matched coating composition and device used therefor

An apparatus for holding a generally flat color sample in a plurality of fixed and repeatable positions in proximity with the optics of a portable color instrument with a uniform and repeatable force. The apparatus has a platform upon which the portable color instrument is secured, a sample stage with multiple index planes upon which a color sample is placed, and a device which urges a pressure foot against the color sample, thereby holding the color sample in position on the stage with a uniform and repeatable force.
