The flow limiting bottle cap secures to a container having a threaded neck and allows a user to select an open or a closed position without removing the cap from a container. Additionally fluid from within a container, when poured, forms multiple separate streams in laminar flow. The cap provides a pattern of conically shaped holes for passing of fluid. Each hole has edge conditions for adjusting the flow relative to pouring. The cap opens by raising an upper portion and closes by lowering the upper portion or by rotating the upper portion to expose the holes and closing by rotating oppositely to block the holes. Knurling upon the perimeter of the upper portion aids the user. An internal seal also excludes atmospheric communication to reduce spoilage of fluids within a container.

The present invention discloses a technique for a user to control a manner in which a data store of a mobile device synchronizes with a remotely located data store. More specifically, synchronization actions can be automatically executed by comparing combinations of user modifiable device settings against device-specific conditions. Device conditions can include device resources, timing parameters, and user-defined criteria, such as data priority, device location, and application-specific conditions. In one embodiment, the invention provides a means to override an application's existing synchronization rules. This permits synchronization for a device that includes multiple applications to be centrally and consistently handled, even when the applications normally lack synchronization control capabilities.

Technique for synchronizing data with a mobile device based on a synchronization context

A method for Internet protocol (IP) address discovery in a rapidly changing network environment is presented. A server and a client use an adaptive discovery polling process to determine an optimum heartbeat interval that minimizes network traffic and allows the server to monitor the client's source address. The client and server exchange discovery poll messages and heartbeat messages at varying time intervals in order to identify a computer network's timeout period or a network address translator's message block timeout period. Once the timeout period is identified, the client sends heartbeat messages to the server at an 'optimum heartbeat interval' that is less than the identified timeout period in order to maintain the network connection. As a result, the server is able to send messages to the client without delay.

A method and apparatus are disclosed for scheduling and confirming meetings in a data processing system which includes stored calendars for prospective attendees. A prompting screen is presented to a scheduler with blanks for keying in a desired meeting parameters including at least: a list of desired attendees; a desired date range; and a desired time span. A prompting screen is also presented to each prospective attendee to permit an attendee to key in attendee confirmation parameters which specify the conditions under which the prospective attendee will agree to attend a desired meeting. In a depicted embodiment of the present invention, a prospective attendee may identify selected attendees who must or must not attend a desired meeting in order to confirm the prospective attendees attendance at that meeting. A comparison of each prospective attendees' calendar with the desired meeting parameters and the attendee confirmation parameters is then utilized to determine if an available meeting time complies with all required parameters.
