An oscilloscope includes a memory that stores instructions; and a processor that executes the instructions. When executed by the processor, the instructions cause the oscilloscope to obtain a measurement of a first radio frequency signal; split a first spectrum based on the first radio frequency signal into a first low-frequency band and a first high-frequency band; perform a first Fourier transform to compute a first new spectrum based on the first spectrum; compute a first waveform of the first new spectrum with noise of the oscilloscope reduced by performing a first inverse Fourier transform based on the first new spectrum; and combine the first new spectrum with noise of the oscilloscope reduced with the first low-frequency band.

A measurement instrument and associated method: receive at a first input an aggressor signal (e.g., a supply voltage) from a device under test (DUT); capture samples of the received supply voltage; receive at a second input a victim signal from the DUT, wherein the received victim signal includes a crosstalk voltage induced thereon from the supply voltage; capturing samples of the received victim signal; applying the captured samples of the received supply voltage and the received victim signal to a predetermined model which represents crosstalk voltage induced onto the received victim signal from the supply voltage waveform, to produce a system of equations, wherein the model includes a plurality of unknown parameters; ascertain the plurality of unknown parameters in the predetermined model from the system of equations; and apply the predetermined model with the ascertained parameters to the captured samples of the received supply voltage to estimate the crosstalk voltage.

System and method of analyzing crosstalk and intersymbol interference for serial data signals

A measurement instrument and associated method: receive at a measurement instrument at least one victim signal from a device under test (DUT), the victim signal including crosstalk interference from one or more aggressor signals which are not received by the measurement instrument; extract from the victim signal an ideal data pattern for the received victim signal, where the ideal data pattern does not include intersymbol interference (ISI), a noise component, or crosstalk interference to the victim signal; ascertain from the received victim signal and the ideal data pattern the ISI for the victim signal; produce a difference signal as a difference between: (1) the received victim signal; and (2) a sum of the ideal data pattern and the ISI; and ascertain from the difference signal a sum of the noise component and the crosstalk interference from one or more aggressor signals which are not received by the measurement instrument.

System and method of analyzing crosstalk without measuring aggressor signal

A system and a method for displaying an emitter location are disclosed. The system includes a plurality of receivers at different locations in a field. Each receiver generates a receiver signal that depends on the magnitude of a signal from the emitter. The system also includes a processor that receives the receiver signal and generates a likelihood map indicative of an approximation of a probability as a function of position in the field of the emitter location. The likelihood map includes a plurality of receiver maps. Each receiver map includes a probability as a function of position in the field of the emitter location based on the signal magnitude for at least one of the receiver signals. Each receiver map may depend on a ratio of the signal magnitudes from a corresponding pair of the receivers, or on one of the signal magnitudes from a corresponding one of the receivers.

Likelihood map system for localizing an emitter

A method and system determine a location of an emitter using at least three sensors, each receiving a signal from the emitter. Cross-correlation data is determined for the received signals at sensor pairs, and one or more peaks are identified in the cross-correlation data. A likelihood function is determined for each sensor pair. A total likelihood function is determined for the sensors using the likelihood functions for each sensor pair, and the location of the emitter is determined as the point where the total likelihood function is maximized. The individual likelihood function for each sensor pair can be determined by selecting, at each point in a grid, a peak in the cross-correlation data that generates a minimum residual according to a minimum residual criterion, and using the selected peak in the cross-correlation data for each point in the grid to calculate the likelihood function.

Method and system for locating signal emitters using residual values

A method and system for determining a location of a first device that emits a signal: provide at least three sensors separated and spaced apart from each other; determine estimated location data for the first device for each sensor or unique sensor pair; determine an estimated location of the first device using the estimated location data for each sensor or unique sensor pair; determine residual values for the estimated location data for each sensor or sensor pair; convert the residual values into corresponding weights for the estimated location data for each sensor or sensor pair; weight the estimated location data for each sensor or sensor pair by its corresponding weight; and update the estimated location of the first device using the weighted estimated location data for each sensor or sensor pair.

Method and system for locating signal emitters using iterative residual weighting

Described are techniques for processing data sets produced by analyzing a sample. The input data set is represented as rows of intensities over time for a particular mass to charge (m/z) range. A correlation matrix is produced in which each row of the input data set is correlated with every other row in the input data set. The correlation matrix is clustered or grouped such that those highly correlated m/z ranges are included in the same group. A set of one or more scans is selected for each group representing periods of interest within each group. Using the m/z values included in each cluster, a resultant sample spectra is created for each of the selected scans. The processing techniques may be used to identify parent and related fragment ions in the input data set and as a preprocessor producing resultant sampled spectra used as input to subsequent processing.

Methods and devices for identifying related ions from chromatographic mass spectral datasets containing overlapping components

A system and method for performing auto-focusing operations for tomosynthetic reconstruction of images are provided. More specifically, embodiments of the present invention provide a system and method for efficiently computing the gradient of one or more depth layers of an object under inspection, wherein such gradients may be used in performing auto-focusing operations to determine a depth layer that includes an in-focus view of a feature that is of interest. In at least one embodiment, a method is provided that comprises capturing detector image data for an object under inspection, and using the detector image data for computing gradient information for at least one depth layer of the object under inspection without first tomosynthetically reconstructing a full image of the at least one depth layer.

System and method for performing auto-focused tomosynthesis

An electrosurgical generator has an output power control system that causes the impedance of tissue to rise and fall in a cyclic pattern until the tissue is desiccated. The advantage of the power control system is that thermal spread and charring are reduced. In addition, the power control system offers improved performance for electrosurgical vessel sealing and tissue welding. The output power is applied cyclically by a control system with tissue impedance feedback. The impedance of the tissue follows the cyclic pattern of the output power several times, depending on the state of the tissue, until the tissue becomes fully desiccated. High power is applied to cause the tissue to reach a high impedance, and then the power is reduced to allow the impedance to fall. Thermal energy is allowed to dissipate during the low power cycle. The control system is adaptive to tissue in the sense that output power is modulated in response to the impedance of the tissue.

A tomographic reconstruction method and system incorporating Bayesian estimation techniques to inspect and classify regions of imaged objects, especially objects of the type typically found in linear, areal, or 3-dimensional arrays. The method and system requires a highly constrained model M that incorporates prior information about the object or objects to be imaged, a set of prior probabilities P(M) of possible instances of the object; a forward map that calculates the probability density P(D|M), and a set of projections D of the object. Using Bayesian estimation, the posterior probability p(M|D) is calculated and an estimated model Mof the imaged object is generated. Classification of the imaged object into one of a plurality of classifications may be performed based on the estimated model M, the posterior probability p(M|D) or MAP function, or calculated expectation values of features of interest of the object.

In a method of fabricating a traveling wave optical modulator, an optical waveguide structure having an optical waveguide and a signal electrode path extending from a signal input to a termination output is formed. The signal electrode path is modified to include a customized signal electrode having a transmission line characteristic substantially matching a target transmission line parameter value. In another aspect, a traveling wave optical waveguide structure includes an optical waveguide and a signal electrode path. The signal electrode path extends from a signal input to a termination output and is defined by an electrode seed structure. The electrode seed structure is exposed for subsequent electrode formation and has a transmission line characteristic detrimental to proper propagation of an electrical modulation signal.
