A method of maintaining and controlling a plurality of wireless light fixtures includes providing the light fixtures in a structure, wirelessly receiving respective operational data from each of the light fixtures at a central location, aggregating the received respective operational data to form an aggregation of operational data, and analyzing at least a portion of the aggregation of operational data. The method further includes performing one or both of (i) controlling the operation of a first selected one or more of the light fixtures based on a result of the analyzing step by wirelessly transmitting respective operational commands from the central location to each of the first selected one or more of the light fixtures, and (ii) causing a maintenance related action to be taken with respect to each of a second selected one or more of the light fixtures based on a result of the analyzing step.

System and method for maintaining and controlling a plurality of wireless light fixtures

An externally controllable circuit breaker includes a set of main contacts, an operating mechanism for opening and closing the main contacts; and a set of secondary contacts electrically connected in series with the main contacts. A control mechanism to open and close the secondary contacts includes an electromagnet with an armature having a first position, which opens the secondary contacts, and a second position, which closes the secondary contacts. The electromagnet also includes a coil electrically interconnected with the main contacts for energization therefrom and adapted for control by one or two external signals from one or two external contacts to operate the armature between the first and second positions.

Externally controllable circuit breaker

A circuit breaker has a set of remotely controllable secondary contacts connected in series with the main contacts which provide overcurrent protection. The secondary contacts are opened and closed by a latching solenoid having a close coil and an open coil which are separately connected to switched terminals of a first switch. A voltage source, which may be ac, dc or pulsed, is connected to the common terminal of the first switch through a rectifier. The first switch is coupled to the plunger of the latching solenoid which opens and closes the set of secondary contacts and enables the coil which operates the set of secondary contacts to the opposite state. Energization of the enabled coil is completed by additional, remotely located switches connected between each coil and ground. A status line connected to one of the switched terminals of the first switch is energized when the associated coil is enabled to indicate the open/close status of the set of secondary contacts.

Remotely controllable circuit breaker

A panelboard apparatus includes an enclosure; a first plurality of circuit breakers including a remotely controllable solenoid for actuating the circuit breaker and switching a circuit from a power line through a load; a holder for holding in the enclosure up to a second plurality of circuit breakers including the first plurality of circuit breakers; a controller for controlling up to the second plurality of circuit breakers; a printed circuit connection mechanism for connecting up to the second plurality of circuit breakers to the controller in one of a plurality of configurations, including printed circuit boards having a plurality of interfaces for up to the second plurality of circuit breakers; and a switch selection circuit for selecting one of the configurations in order to determine a location in the enclosure of a first one of the second plurality of circuit breakers.

Configurable panelboard for a plurality of electrical switching apparatus

An electronically controlled lighting panelboard characterized by a power line panelboard having a plurality of remotely controlled circuit breakers for opening and closing circuits to corresponding loads. Each circuit breaker is interconnected to an interface which in turn is connected by a multi-conductor cable to an electronic controller or computer.

Electronic control for lighting panelboards

An electronic controller, connected to a digital communication network, is responsive to commands from a master controller to control solenoid operated circuit breakers. The electronic controller also determines the status of all circuit breakers and reports back to the master controller to verify that the command from the master controller was executed and to provide historical data regarding the status of the circuit breakers. The electronic controller is synchronized to the same alternating current (AC) power source as the circuit breakers to control the operation of the respective circuit breakers to minimize electromagnetic interference (EMI) caused by the switching of the circuit breakers. The electronic controller further controls the operation of the circuit breakers to reduce the duty cycle of the power supply for the circuit breaker solenoids.
