The present invention relates to a process for producing unsaturated cyclic and/or aromatic compounds from 1,8-cineole, the process comprising pyrolysing 1,8-cineole in the presence of gamma-alumina supported transition metal catalyst.

A method is disclosed for converting syngas to Fischer-Tropsch (F-T) hydrocarbon products. A synthesis gas including carbon monoxide and hydrogen gas is provided to a F-T reactor. Also, acetylene is supplied to the F-T reactor. The ratio of the volume of acetylene to the volume of synthesis gas is at least 0.01. The synthesis gas and acetylene are reacted under suitable reaction conditions and in the presence of a catalyst to produce F-T hydrocarbon products. The F-T hydrocarbon products are then recovered from the reactor. The synthesis gas and acetylene may be provided in a combined feed stream or introduced separately into the reactor. The acetylene enhanced syngas conversion in a F-T reactor results in the synthesis of F-T products which have a tighter distribution of intermediate length carbon products than do F-T products synthesized according to conventional methods.

A process for the production of synthesis gas by oxidizing a hydrocarbon fuel comprises forming mixture of the fuel and an oxidizing gas and contacting the mixture with a catalyst coated on at least part of a turbine () to produce a heated gas and passing the heated gas through the turbine () to produce power. A process for the production of hydrogen and/or carbon monoxide rich gases by steam reforming of a hydrocarbon feedstock, the process comprising the step of contacting the hydrocarbon feedstock and steam with a catalyst comprising nickel as a main catalytic component, a refractory carrier material for the nickel, and at least one catalytic element for the steam reforming of the hydrocarbon feedstock, the element being selected from the group consisting of germanium, tin, lead, arsenic, antimony and bismuth.
