A short-range communication system is presented that includes a system control unit and a personal protective equipment device. The system control unit includes a network creator configured to create a short-range network on a wireless frequency, an interference detector configured to detect a device on an interfering frequency, and a control unit frequency hopper configured to, based on the detected device, scan a frequency range for an open frequency and switch the system control network to the open frequency. The personal protective equipment device includes a network joiner configured to join the short-range network and a device frequency hopper configured to switch the personal protective equipment device to the open frequency.

Personal protective equipment communication systems and methods

A hearing protection system is provided. The hearing protection system has a first active hearing protection system. The first active hearing protection system is level-dependent. The hearing protection system also has a second active hearing protection system. The second active hearing protection system is level-dependent. Each of the first and second active hearing protection systems are configured to operate in an independent mode and a dual-protection mode. A dual-protection mode level dependent function of the second active hearing protection system is different than an independent mode level dependent function.

Dual hearing protection system

The present application relates to a battery-powered electronic device, such as an electronic hearing protector, with switchable electrical contacts. The device includes a housing enclosing the battery and an electronics assembly. The electronics assembly is powered by the battery, and the electronics assembly comprises a processor controlled by updatable software. The device further includes a first electrical contact that is a ground line; a second electrical contact that is a data programming line in a first state, and that is a charging voltage line in a second state; and a third electrical contact that is a clock line in a first state, and that is a charge enable line in the second state. The first, second and third electrical contacts are accessible from outside the housing. A switch enclosed by the housing changes the second electrical contact between the first state and the second state.

Electronic hearing protector with switchable electrical contacts

A device for reducing communications crosstalk including a plurality of channel inputs each configured to receive an incoming signal from a respective device. The device further includes at least one control input configured such that, when the control input is triggered, the control input activates a voltage divider that attenuates at least one of the incoming signals, thereby reducing crosstalk between a first channel carrying the at least one attenuated incoming signal and a second channel not carrying the at least one attenuated incoming signal. The at least one attenuated incoming signal and the remaining incoming signals are output to a respective receiver.

Device, system and method for reducing communications crosstalk between channels

A battery-powered electronic device, such as an electronic hearing protector () includes a housing () enclosing the battery and an electronics assembly powered by the battery, the electronics assembly comprises a processor controlled by updatable software. The device further includes a first electrical contact () that is a ground line; a second electrical contact () that is a data programming line in a first state, and that is a charging voltage line in a second state; and a third electrical contact () that is a clock line in a first state, and that is a charge enable line in the second state. The first, second and third electrical contacts (-) are accessible from outside the housing (). A switch enclosed by the housing () changes the second electrical contact () between the first state and the second state.

An interface is disclosed. The interface can include a single node that can be configured to receive a state signal and a serial communication signal. The interface can also include a switch circuit and a switch control circuit, where the switch control circuit is capable of being influenced by the receipt of the state signal or the serial communication signal at the single node and can set the state of the switch circuit based on the receipt of the state signal. Additionally, a switch buffer circuit is coupled between the switch and the switch control circuit, where the switch buffer circuit is configured to prevent the serial communication signal from activating the switch circuit. As such, both the state signal and the serial communication signal can be transmitted over a single node without adversely affecting the operation of pre-existing components.

Multi-use input

System and methods are provided for monitoring a state of a switch element connecting a DC power supply to a load. A system includes a transformer having first and second windings, where a first end of the second winding electrically coupled to a first switch node of the switch element. The system also includes a transmit circuit configured for providing a waveform at the first winding and a sensor element having galvanically isolated input and output nodes for inducing a monitor signal at the output nodes in response to a signal at the input nodes. The system further includes a receive circuit coupled to the output nodes and configured for generating one or more output signals in response to the monitor signal. The system also includes capacitor elements for providing DC isolation for the second winding with respect to the first switch node and the sensor element.

System and method for determining physical status of switch elements

A low noise current source includes first and second voltage input terminals. The current source further includes an amplifying device having an input terminal and an output terminal, where the output terminal is coupled to the second voltage input terminal via a load. The current source also includes a bias circuit coupled between the first voltage input terminal, the second voltage input terminal, and the input terminal. The current source additionally includes a first bypass circuit coupled between the first voltage input terminal and the input terminal, where the first bypass circuit configured to provide a substantially high electrical resistance and substantially no electrical impedance between the first voltage input terminal and the input terminal.

Low-noise current source

An expander circuit for decoding audio signals which were encoded in accordance with the BTSC multichannel sound system standard including DBX commanding is presented. A wideband expander circuit is utilized and a DBX expander can be accommodated. The wideband expander circuit is provided with a signal path having an input LPF (low pass filter), a stereo difference signal (L&#x2212;R) demodulator, a second LPF, and a voltage controlled amplifier (VCA), the gain of which is controlled by a control signal derived from the demodulated difference signal which has been operated on by a bandpass filter (BPF) and an integrating peak detector. The output of the VCA is provided to a deemphasis network before being fed to a decoder matrix for combining with the sum stereo signal (L+R) for reconstructing the original L and R signals. When a DBX expander is connected, the DBX expander is substituted in place of the deemphasis network, the VCA control signal, which provides the wideband expansion, is overridden by a predetermined voltage, the bandpass filtering characteristic of the BPF is disabled, and the input is switched to bypass the input LPF. According to aspects of the present invention, the disablement of the BPF bandpass filtering characteristic actuates the switching of the input to bypass the input LPF.

Switched signal processing circuit

An apparatus for OFDM communications includes an equalizer filter configured to receive input data and to apply a tap setting to the input data to generate output data. The input data includes a first real component and a first imaginary component. The tap setting includes a second real component and a second imaginary component. The output data includes a third real component and a third imaginary component, and the third real component is time-multiplexed with the third imaginary component. A method for OFDM communications includes applying a tap setting to input data to generate output data.

An audio/video system () is capable of introducing variable amounts of delay into a signal path so as to properly synchronize two signals, such a video signal and a corresponding audio signal. According to an exemplary embodiment, the audio/video system () includes first circuitry () for applying a first delay to a first digital signal. Second circuitry () applies a variable second delay to a second digital signal to time align the second digital signal relative to the first digital signal. The second circuitry () includes an addressable memory () for selectively storing the second digital signal and for outputting the second digital signal on a first-in, first-out basis to apply the variable second delay to the second digital signal.

An integrated circuit (IC) includes an internal clock generator apparatus that provides various modes of operation of the integrated circuit. The internal clock generator apparatus includes a clock generator portion that is operable to provide a clock signal for various circuitry/logic of the integrated circuit and a control portion that is operable to receive a control signal to cause the integrated circuit to operate in one of several modes. In particular, the clock generator apparatus is responsive to the control signal, preferably from an external source, to bypass the clock signal, introduce a test clock signal for digital testing, and isolate and/or measure a delay through the clock generator portion of the clock generator apparatus.
