A data distribution panel includes a conductive panel having openings for the receipt of electrical data connector from the rear thereof. Shielded data connectors are installed from the rear of the panel and are electrically commoned to the panel. The electrical connectors are in the form of shielded subassemblies which, when interconnected to the panel, are commoned by a finger which extends from the panel thereby contacting the subassemblies. The panel is for use with a patch cable having at each end, connectors which can be latchably interconnected to the panel to interconnect shielded subassemblies together. An interface member is also available which can interconnect electrical connectors thereto which have T-bars and T-slots.

Data distribution panel

Preloaded electrical connector comprises a housing having a terminal therein which is partially inserted into a terminal-receiving cavity. The terminal has a wire contacting lancet thereon and the housing cavity has camming wall portions which are effective, during movement of the terminal to its fully inserted position, to move the contacting lancet into engagement with a wire. Installation is carried out by inserting a wire into the partially inserted terminal and then moving the terminal from its partially inserted position to its fully inserted position. No specialized tooling is required for the installation process.

Electrical connector which requires no application tool

An electrical connector is disclosed which is for use with a patch cable on a data distribution panel. Connectors are placed at each end of the cable and can be latchably interconnected to the panel to interconnect shielded subassemblies together. A data distribution panel includes a conductive panel having openings for the receipt of shielded electrical data connectors from the rear thereof and are electrically commoned to the panel. The electrical connectors are in the form of shielded subassemblies which, when interconnected to the panel, are commoned by a finger which extends from the panel thereby contacting the subassemblies.

Electrical connector for data distribution panel

An assembly for interconnecting more than one interfacing device has a wall mountable box having cavities therein. The cavities have an open front face and at least a partially open rear face. Edge card connectors interconnectable to shielded or unshielded cable are insertable through the rear face of the wall box. A shielded cable connector portion is insertable through the front face and has an edge card mounted thereto having conductive traces interconnected to resilient terminals, the terminals accessible through the front mating face. An unshielded cable connector portion is insertable through the front mating face of a second cavity. The unshielded connector is mounted to a printed circuit board which is interconnectable with an edge card connector within the cavity. The shielded or unshielded connectors are disposed in the front mating face for interconnection with a mating shielded or unshielded connector.

Local area network interface

An electrical distribution system for use in selectively establishing interconnection between incoming circuits in a multiconductor cable and outgoing circuits employs a miniature ribbon connector and a single position outlet plug. The outlet plug employs round wire contacts to make interconnection to the flat resilient portions of miniature ribbon terminals. The outlet plugs are received within an adaptor housing mounted on the female mating face of a miniature ribbon connector. The round wire contacts in the outlet plug are crimped to terminals. Line assignment modules and cross connect assemblies can thus be constructed.

Single communication line interconnect

An electrical connector having a series of terminals having contact portions located at different pitches at different faces of the connector. The terminals are formed from identical blanks and have looped body portions integrally joining the contact portions which body portions are deformable both laterally to accommodate the pitch-change and longitudinally to enable the contact portions to lie in coplanar places at respective faces.

Pitch change connector

An electrical connector shield includes a one-piece base member having a cable braid connecting portion comprising a panel from respective opposite sides and the rear of which upstand flanges formed with cable-receiving apertures opening away from the panel. Each aperture has inturned cable gripping lips. A closure member is provided for latching receipt on the base member with a detent action. A connector includes a terminal housing received between the base and closure members and having hood and platform portions providing supports for contact portions of the shield at a mating face.

Shielded electrical connector

A cover used to retain terminals in a connector housing prior to application of the housing to a printed board. The over is applied to the face of the connector housing and simulates the shape of a mating connector. Terminals, when assembled in the connector housing at the terminal receiving face abut the cover and are forced into receiving grooves in the housing. Pressure applied to the terminals by the cover retains the terminals within the housing until the housing and terminals are mounted in a printed circuit board. The cover also functions as a dust cover as well as a tool for insertion of the connector into a printed circuit board.

Cover for multiple terminal electrical connector

A bond shield terminal formed of two hermaphroditic elements of substantially identical shape, each element being lockable in the other and providing a force on a shield of a pair of wires positioned therebetween. Each of the hermaphroditic elements includes a base and a pair of latching arms depending from one adjacent pair of corners of the base, each of the latching arms having a pair of spaced apertures therein and a pair of legs depending from the other two corners of the base, each of the legs having a latching finger formed therein for locking into the apertures of the mating element. A pair of spring arms is formed in the base and depends therefrom in the same direction as the arms and legs, each of the spring arms having extensions for applying a force to wires between a pair of elements to provide a compressive force against the wires and maintain the metal shields thereof in compression against each other to provide good electrical contact.
