A test probe for use with a chip carrier socket including electrical connections to an external testing device and contacts to engage matching contacts within the chip socket. Tong-like elements grasp the socket to insure both mechanical and electrical integrity of the connections. A slip ring retains the tongs and probe in operated position.

Chip carrier socket test probe

A tool adapted to facilitate the removal of elements such as pin grid arrays, pin grid array sockets, chip carriers, and chip carrier sockets which have been soldered into plated through holes or similar elements of printed wiring cards. A platform is provided mounting two pivotable arms which are used to grip onto the element to be removed while a number of spring loaded posts are compressed to provide connection to the printed wiring card on which the element to be removed is attached. The entire assembly is then placed in a high temperature environment causing the solder to melt at which time the compressed springs, associated with the posts, effectively expand withdrawing the element from the printed wiring card.

Pin grid array removal tool

A two-piece rotating contact zero insertion force connector is used to interconnect printed circuit boards (daughter boards) to backplanes (mother boards), cables to panels or cables to cables. This is accomplished by rotating one-half of the mating contacts relative to the other half to complete the necessary electrical connection. A number of different rotating contact designs are included which could be utilized to implement the overall concept.

Rotating contact ZIF connector

A mounting arrangement for printed circuit boards where electrical and mechanical connection is maintained by the characteristics of the contacts included in the connector. While support is provided for the printed wiring board, no retenion means other than the contacts themselves are employed. The combination of a rigid and a flexible contact inhibits 'walking' of the board due to vibration.

Circuit connector for use with printed wiring board

An arrangement for connecting a terminal pin to a printed wiring board conductor via an electrically conductive elastomeric collar positioned about the terminal pin and pressed into a plated through hole connected to the conductor. Ridges are formed on an outer surface of the collar and a tapered lead-in is provided at one end of the collar to permit engagement with and the formation of contact areas between the collar and the plated through hole. The collar additionally may include a drive shoulder at an end opposite the end containing the tapered lead-in. Projections may be formed on the terminal pin which engage cavities formed in the inner wall of the central bore within the collar to retain the terminal pin within a collar. The collar may be of electrically conductive or electrically non-conductive material.

Terminal pin securing arrangement

An electromagnetic device utilizing a Hall effect switch for detecting the presence or absence of an electrical current. The device includes a flux generator for generating a field of magnetic flux and an adjustable magnetic circuit for varying the amount of flux delivered to the Hall switch.

Detection apparatus utilizing a hall effect device

An adjustable flux generator used in conjunction with a Hall effect switch, comprising a coil and a magnetic circuit including an adjustable core. The coil produces a field of magnetic flux in response to the presence of an electrical current which is transmitted via the magnetic circuit to the Hall effect switch. The adjustable core is disposed to be manually adjusted to control the amount of magnetic flux delivered to the Hall effect switch. When the flux exceeds the Hall switch operate point the switch produces an output signal.

Adjustable flux generator a magnetically activated electronic switch

A circuit board interconnection system comprising an edge mounted electrical connector and at least one cable connector. The edge mounted connector comprises a body having a plurality of electrical contacts retained thereon with each contact including a circuit board engaging portion and a terminal engaging portion. At least one receptacle is formed by a flange extending from the body about the terminal engaging portions. The cable connector comprises a body including a pluraity of terminals thereon connected to a source of electrical potential and arranged to be inserted into the edge connector receptacle electrically interconnecting respective terminals to edge connector terminal engaging portions.

Circuit board interconnection system

A switching device comprising a spring pile-up assembly including a plurality of pairs of cantilevered stationary and movable contact springs secured between a pair of support members. A follower card is slidably mounted on the top portions of the support member allowing the follower to move in a plane 90 degrees to the contact springs. The tips of the movable contact springs protrude through openings in the follower card. A cam card including cam portions is slidably mounted to one of the support members perpendicular to the follower. As the cam card is moved the cams engage an edge of the follower causing it to be displaced in its plane of motion sufficiently to open a selected number of contact springs while allowing another selected number of contact springs to close.

Cam actuated switching device

A switching device comprising a spring pileup assembly including a plurality of pairs of cantilevered stationary and movable contact springs secured between a pair of support members. A follower card is slidably mounted on the top portions of the support member allowing the follower to move in a plane 90 degrees to the contact springs. The tips of the movable contact springs protrude through openings in the follower card. A cam card including cam portions is slidably mounted to one of the support members perpendicular to the follower. As the cam card is moved the cams engage an edge of the follower causing it to be displaced in its plane of motion sufficiently to open a selected number of contact springs while allowing another selected number of contact springs to close.

The disclosure relates to a stackable electrical connector assembly which includes a pin connector and terminal block means. The pin connector includes a partial enclosure having a floor and a divider wall defining first and second aligned partial enclosures. Each partial enclosure includes a plurality of apertures extending through the floor which are arranged in a predetermined array and a wire connecting pin in each aperture extending forward of the floor and terminating within the floor in between the front and rear surfaces of the floor. A block portion is adjacent each partial enclosure and includes an alignment key and a cable clamp and holder for securing a cable to each block at a desired angle to avoid unnecessary bending of the cables. The terminal block means includes a pair of identical terminal blocks each having a plurality of wire connecting pins arranged in the predetermined array and a bracket for aligning and securing the terminal blocks together. The bracket has alignment slots which are adapted to receive the alignment keys of the pin connector block portions so that when the pin connector and terminal blocks are joined, the wire connector pins of the terminal blocks are aligned with the apertures on the rear side of the pin connector floor. As a result, each pin of the terminal blocks contacts an associated pin on the pin connector to interconnect the cable wires connected to the wire connecting pins.

Electrical connector assembly

A low profile relay having both coil and spring pile-up mounted in the same plane on its E-core. The E-core has two extended outer arms upon which the spring pile-up is mounted and a shorter center arm upon which the coil and bobbin assembly is mounted and which also forms the strike area for the armature. A C-shaped adjustable armature spring has brackets on each end of the arms into which the armature is snap fitted, providing an adjustable and detachable armature and spring assembly. A dust cover is mounted over the assembly with a hole above the coil to provide heat dissipation for the relay. The relay assembly is mounted on a nonmetallic friction fit bottom insulator for mounting on printed wiring cards.
