Vertebral body replacements are provided, including at least one vertebral body replacement in the shape of an oblong object. The oblong vertebral body replacement includes a nose shape to provide as minimally invasive an installation as possible, serrations formed in the side wall of the body replacement's body to prevent expulsion once the body replacement is in place, a tapered asymmetric shape to provide spinal lordosis, and an integral protrusion for stability and to increase the bearing area to reduce contact pressure between the body replacement and the vertebral plate. Hollow passages are typically filled with bone tissue. The body is also provided with holes passing therethrough to promote tissue growth.

Vertebral body replacement and method of use

An automated screw rod bender includes a sensing system for sensing a position of each of a plurality of screws that are inserted into a vertebrae, a computing system for converting the positions into a geometric coordinates of the screws and generating a corresponding plurality of rod bending parameters, and a rod bending system for bending a rod based on the rod bending parameters.

Automated pedicle screw rod bender

A vertebral plating system includes a bone screw and a vertebral plate. The bone screw includes a screw head and a shaft. The screw head includes at least three segments flexibly attached to the shaft and has a spherical outside surface. The plate includes holes to receive the screw and that have a spherical inside surface. A driver tool has pins that are inserted into a pin hole on each segment, and that causes the segments to move towards each other when downward pressure is applied.

Vertebral plating system

A vertebral implant for replacing a biological disk includes a top and bottom plate. The implant further includes flexible coupling that couples together the plates while allowing the same degree of freedom in all axes of motion as the original biological disk.

Flexible vertebral implant

A pedicle screw assembly includes pedicle screw having a plurality of spaced-apart posts. A ball collet having a ball collet bore is seated on the pedicle screw between the posts and a rod is gripped by an inner surface of the ball collet bore. The assembly also includes a cap that is coupled to the posts, the cap applying a compressive force to the ball collet against a seat of said pedicle screw. A free end of the rod may be provided with various structures to enable such free end to be retained by another pedicle screw.

Ball jointed pedicle screw and rod system

The present invention provides vertebral spacers having a lower surface and an upper surface, an anterior face and a posterior face extending from the lower surface, and at least one guiding groove for engaging an insertion tool. A system for delivering a vertebral spacer to the spinal column of a patient, includes an insertion tool, an optional guiding tool, a pusher, a vertebral spacer, and a cutting tool. The insertion tool accepts any of a pusher, a vertebral spacer, or a cutting tool and has at least one spacer guide for engaging with a guiding groove of a vertebral spacer. The vertebral spacer is inserted into a patient by inserting the insertion tool into an intervertebral space, engaging the guiding groove of a vertebral spacer with a space guide of the insertion tool, advancing a pusher into the insertion tool, thereby pushing the vertebral spacer into the intervertebral space and thereafter removing the pusher and the insertion tool. The cutting tool is optionally used to chisel at least one vertebral space receiving slot in the vertebrae. A hardening biocompatible composition also maybe delivered, to bond the vertebral spacer to an adjacent vertebra or be an osteogenic composition to promote bone growth.

System and methods for inserting a vertebral spacer

An instrument holder including a releasably lockable adjustable arm for rigidly maintaining a tool or instrument in a pre-selected orientation. The instrument holder also includes a tensioning device pivotally connected by a hinge to the arm. The arm includes a plurality of links longitudinally arranged along a common axis, wherein adjacent links are pivotally connected by a hinge, and a duct. A tensioning cable extending within the duct of the arm attaches to the distal end of the articulated arm and to the tensioning device, and applies a tension force to compress the hinges so as to rigidly lock the arm into the preset position.
