A latch mechanism is provided and may include a first plate, a second plate, a cam rotatably supported between the first plate and the second plate, and a plurality of pawls rotatably supported between the first plate and the second plate. The plurality of pawls are movable from an unlocked state to a locked state by the cam. The plurality of pawls each include a plurality of discrete locking members extending toward and received by respective notches formed in one of the first plate and the second plate.

Latch mechanism with locking feature

A seat assembly is provided and may include a base assembly, a first arm, a seat bottom assembly, a second arm, and an adjustment arm. The base assembly may be mounted to a vehicle. The first arm may be rotatably coupled to the base assembly and may be operable to rotate relative to the base assembly about a first axis of rotation. The seat bottom assembly may be rotatably coupled to the first arm and may be operable to rotate relative to the first arm about a second axis of rotation. The second arm may be rotatably coupled to the seat bottom assembly and may be operable to rotate relative to the seat bottom assembly about a third axis of rotation. The adjustment arm may include an adjustment mechanism, and may be rotatably coupled to the second arm and rotatably coupled to the base assembly. The adjustment mechanism may be operable to rotate the adjustment arm relative to the base assembly about a fourth axis of rotation.

Power seat assembly

A track assembly is provided and may include a track, at least one slide mechanism, and a lock mechanism. The at least one slide mechanism may be slidably attached to the track. The lock mechanism may be associated with the at least one slide mechanism and may operate between a locked state restricting movement of the at least one slide mechanism relative to the track and an unlocked state permitting movement of the at least one slide mechanism relative to the track. The lock mechanism may include a plurality of lock plates independently movable relative to one another between a first position engaging the track and a second position disengaged from the track.

Lock mechanism for seat track

A recliner mechanism may include a guide plate and a ratchet plate selectively rotatable relative to the guide plate. At least two pawls may be disposed between the guide plate and the ratchet plate and may be movable between a first position removed from engagement with the ratchet plate to permit relative rotation between the guide plate and the ratchet plate and a second position in contact with the ratchet plate to prevent relative rotation between the guide plate and the ratchet plate. A cam may be disposed between the guide plate and the ratchet plate and may move the at least two pawls between the first position and the second position. A control ring may be fixed to the ratchet plate and may be in selective engagement with the at least two pawls to prevent the pawls from moving from the first position to the second position.

Round recliner mechanism

A headrest assembly that includes a head support connected to a rail that is adjustably mounted to a housing so that the headrest assembly is capable of moving between a use position and a stow position. A lock member engages the rail in the use position and operably disengages the rail to initiate the movement from the use position to the stow position. Specifically, the rail is biased to a stow position so that disengaging the lock member from the rail moves the headrest assembly from the use position to the stow position. The headrest assembly is also coordinated into a seat assembly such that the movement of a seatback from a use position to a stow position concurrently causes the headrest assembly to move from the use position to the stow position.

Spring-loaded headrest

A seat adjustment mechanism for a vehicle seat including a seat bottom supported by the vehicle and a seatback coupled to the seat bottom is provided. The seat adjustment mechanism includes a first kneel mechanism connected to the vehicle seat and a powered motor operably connected to the first kneel mechanism. The powered motor drives the first kneel mechanism to translate the seatback and seat bottom relative the vehicle to manipulate the seat assembly into a desired configuration.

Seat assembly having manual tumble with interlock and powered recline, fold and kneel

A linear seat recliner for use in a motor vehicle having a seat with a seat back pivotally connected to a seat bottom. The seat is operable in a plurality of use positions ranging from an upright position to a fully reclined position. The linear seat recliner includes a housing adapted to be coupled to one of the seat back and the seat bottom, a latching mechanism coupled to the housing, and a recliner rod. The recliner rod includes a body having a first end and a second end. The body has a substantially planar top flat diametrically opposed and parallel to a substantially planar bottom flat. The top flat includes a plurality of teeth positioned at the first end of the body. The first end of the recliner rod is selectively engageable by the latching mechanism and the second end of the recliner rod is adapted to be coupled to the other of the seat back and the seat bottom.

Linear seat recliner for structural seat

A seat latch mechanism accommodating a plurality of seatback positions, comprising an upper housing and a lower housing whereby the lower housing includes a recess for a striker to pass therethrough when the latch mechanism is in an unlatched position. Further, a latch assembly is provided and is operably supported by the lower housing, whereby the latch assembly is operable between a latched position and an unlatched position, and an actuation assembly operably supported by the upper and lower housings and in operable communication with the latch assembly to selectively toggle the latch assembly between the latched and unlatched position.

Multi-position latch apparatus and method

A seat assembly having a tunable tie bar is provided and includes a main pivot and a housing operably supporting the tie bar. The housing is fixedly attached to a seatback of the seat assembly and includes C-shaped members fixedly joined together to provide a space in which the tie bar is disposed. The tie bar is fixedly attached to the housing and is in engagement with the main pivot, whereby the tie bar reacts against the main pivot to provide the seatback with sufficient support. The tie bar serves to strengthen the housing and ultimately provide the seatback with sufficient strength to support an occupant and the accompanying seatbelt loads associated with a seat-mounted retractor assembly. The tie bar is tunable between different seating applications and as such, allows the housing to be used in various seating applications and does not require extensive design and tooling for each application.

A seat adjustment mechanism is provided and includes an arm defining a first locking shoulder, a sector plate rotatably supported by the arm and defining a second locking shoulder having a lock recess, a locking member selectively engaging at least one of the first and second locking shoulders, a quadrant rotatably supported by the arm and slidably supporting the locking member for locking the quadrant in one of a first and second position relative to the arm and a cam plate rotatably supported by the quadrant for selectively engaging the locking member for locking the quadrant in one of the first and second positions. In the first position the locking member is biased against the first locking shoulder and in the second position the locking member is biased into the lock recess. A gear assembly is preferably provided and operably supported by the quadrant for actuation of the cam plate.

Fold-flat seat hinge assembly

A seat assembly includes a hinge assembly having a linear adjustment mechanism including a recliner rod slidably supported by a housing and a pawl rotatably supported by the housing. The recliner rod preferably has a toothed portion that interfaces with a toothed portion of the pawl to prohibit the recliner rod from sliding. The pawl is pivotable relative the housing such that it may be disengaged to enable the recliner rod to slide freely. When the pawl engages the recliner rod in a locked position, a first force component generally normal to the engagement of the pawl and the recliner rod and a second force component generally through the pawl pivot reduce play and improve the load-carrying capacity of the linear adjustment mechanism.

Linear recliner assembly having bias cam mechanism

A seat back adjustment mechanism for a seat assembly enabling a seat back to be selectively positioned in various fold-forward positions relative to a seat, and locked into at least one forward position, includes a quadrant supporting a cam plate that interfaces with a locking member to block an arm rotatably supporting the quadrant. The arm preferably includes a series of pawl teeth for selectively engaging the locking member to lock the seat back in a selected fold-forward position. Alternatively, the arm includes a corner portion or includes a link and a sector plate allowing for the locking of the seat back in a single fold-forward position, horizontal to the seat. A gear assembly is further provided to facilitate actuation of the adjustment mechanism.

Dual-cam seat-hinge assembly

A linear seat recliner adapted to interconnect a seatback to a seat bottom and which is equipped with a recliner rod assembly having a recliner rod and a ball joint mounted in an aperture formed through one end of the recliner rod. The ball joint includes a ball swivel having an arcuate outer surface which is retained within a socket defined by a pair of retainer rings mounted in the rod aperture. The retainer rings rotatably support the ball swivel within the rod aperture to permit relative angular movement therebetween. The ball swivel further includes a throughbore adapted to receive a hinge pin for securing the ball joint end of the recliner rod assembly to corresponding structure of the seatback or seat bottom. Crush ribs are formed in the throughbore of the ball swivel for engaging the hinge pin and establishing an interference fit therebetween.

Linear seat recliner

A seat recliner for adjusting the angular position of a seatback relative to a seat bottom. The seat recliner includes a first member secured to the seat bottom, a second member secured to the seatback and supported for pivotal movement relative to the first member, and a latching mechanism operable in a latched mode for inhibiting pivotal movement of the second member relative to the first member and in an unlatched mode for permitting pivotal movement of the second member. The latching mechanism includes a first gear non-rotatably fixed to the second member, a second gear rotatably supported from the first member and in constant meshed engagement with the first gear, and a third gear in constant meshed engagement with the first gear. A recline actuator mechanism shifts the latching mechanism from the latched mode into the unlatched mode by moving the third gear from a first position whereat it is also meshed with the second gear to a second position whereat it is released from meshed engagement with the second gear.

Rotary gear lock seat recliner

A locking pivot mechanism which may be used as a seat recliner to reduce chucking of a seat back has a toothed quadrant, a toothed pawl, and an engagement member. The engagement member is biased against the pawl which, in turn, is forced into engagement with the quadrant to lock the quadrant against rotation, thus reducing chucking.
